Needing to vent badly.......

I need to vent badly. It seems like having major surgery on top of dealing and caring for a newborn baby is harder than I ever thought. I am finding it more difficult  getting in and out of bed to care for the baby b/c of my incision, especially since it has been hurting the last couple of days. I went to the doc today and everything seems to be fine, He says the pain is probably coming from me healing internally and should gradually go away. He recommended for me to rest and to try not to get out of bed as much only walk as necessary. I mean shut, my Dh is going back to work on Monday so that means I am on my own with the two kids, my stepson and the newborn baby. My mom is here helping me but I know she too is tired of caring for me and going up and down the stairs all the day long.

On top of everything else, my nipples are so dang cracked and sore it;s not even funny. I am dreading the idea of breastfeeding so bad....but at the same time I feel bad for the baby b/c I want him to be healthy and not get him used to formula so soon. My OB prescribed me some medicine to help with the healing and to stop the bleeding so I hope it helps. I spoke to the lactation consultant today and explained her what was going on and she had the nerve to tell me that maybe I was using the pump incorrectly and that;s why my nipples were swore. WTF is she talking about??? She then told me that I was not pumping enough and that i need to pump 8 times per day. ARE YOU freaking kidding me? What am I not suppose to have a life and resolve my schedule on some dang pumps? I am soooo fed up its not even funny. Everytime I talk to my Dh about the whole thing he just tells me to relax and that I will recover soon, that I am making a mountain over a moldhill....WTF? I mean are you being serious...I am the one who was pregnant for 9 months, got CUT OPEN to pull the baby out and I still have two months to recover and you mean to tell me to relax? What is wrong with him?????

Now the icing on the cake, I am so dang constipated is ridicoulous. sorry for the TMI. I think it;s b/c of the surgery how all my organs were shifted around...I am constanly blooded and it hurts soo bad to pass a stool. I have been taking laxatives but they don;t seem to help. I have lost like 23 lbs f in a matter of two weeks from all the stress and worrying and running around, even my doc was surprised.
....

Seriously, Having a c-section makes it difficult all the way around. I can't even change his diaper without my back hurting or some sort of muscle aching....UFFFFFFFFFF I sure hope things get better soon and that I get to be myself again someday. I don;t even know how to cope anymore.

If you AND the baby are suffering from constipation and the stool softners are not making it easier to go, then some prune juice will help you both.  Don't overdue it, because it can cause diahhrea in both you and the baby.  Keep drinking as much water as you can.  The stook softner tablet seems to work better, if you keep your fluid intake up as well.

Has your doctor recommended a gentle laxative everyday.  Or maybe some Metamucil, you can mix in water to help regulate you?  It's very gentle on the system, but seems to get things moving easier and faster AND softer.  It should have little affect on the baby, but please check with the doctor before trying it.  It's so less harmful to the digestive tract and so much gentlier than harsh laxatives.  This isn't a laxative, it's fiber.  If the baby shows signs of getting fussy after you take some every morning, my doctor says the baby will adjust very quickly to the change.  You should have poppy diagpers in no time from baby.  With no straining.

Do not use prunes AND Metamucil together.  One or the other.

Good Luck to you and baby.  Best Wishes,
Heather

I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised how easy your gall bladder removal will go.  My doctor gave me a long acting anesthetic in all my little "portal" sites and I didn't feel any pain from the gall bladder surgery.  Of course there was alot of soreness days after.  I found that the more I moved around the better I felt.

I was up walking the halls within one hour of the gall bladder surgery.  I have had many surgery's in my life, including an abdominal hysterectomy, cut from hip to hip and that was one of the hardest surgery's to get over.  So I feel for you, just having a c-section and then going through gall bladder surgery.  Lord, dearheart, I was so happy to have that gall bladder out and no more periodic pain, that i believe my healing went well, just out of sheer joy of not having to worry about those attacks anymore.

I told my doctor that my greatest anxiety was waking up from the surgery, so he gave me the appropriate medications, so I had an easier time coming out of it.  One of them was Phenergan and that helped alot.  The other was Demerol.  I needed no other pain killers after the intial surgery.  Just over the counter pain relievers, if I felt any soreness.  I hope your surgery goes as well as mine.  You'll be one happy lady to have all that behind you.  It honestly took very little time to fully recover from the gall bladder surgery.  All that needless worry I put myself through before the surgery.  It really was a breeze.  Of coure I hope the same for you.

Feel better soon.  Gall bladder surgery isn't what it used to be.  You DO feel good enough to walk around after the surgery and very quickly, I might add.

Good Luck to you..

Ugh I agree about the constipation fact of giving birth, and I did it vaginally!!!  LoL however, I am also on vikaden for my gall bladder attacks, which, come to think of it, I had one today, you know while I'm suspose to be at my husban's family reunion, which only happends every 2 years!!  I felt like an idiot, however, it's the only attack I have had since I've had Owen, but they usually come in waves, meaning that today was the start of wat in the past would be a week full of them.  Yey me!!  Sorry I don't mean to vent on your post, but I really felt like an idiot!!

I can't tell you wat to do about sore nips, I'm not breastfeeding... As for sugary, I will be going through gall bladder sugary just as soon as my doc can get me in, which I'm NOT very inthusasitc about it... Cuz I'm still healing from giving birth, I hate coming out of anastha, and I had complications afterward.  So I ended up being in the hospital for three days after I was home for three.  Ugh!!! So I'll have to let ya'll know how that goes!

I'm sorry to hear your having such a hard time. Those first few weeks really do stink!

If your nipples are hurting while you pump, well really hurting then the part that fits over your nipple might not be big enough. Medela has a great howto picture on the web that shows you a proper fit vs inproper. I was getting cracked nipples from using too small of a shield and having the pump turned up too high. Once I switched out the shield and turned down the pump it felt much better and gave my nipples a chance to heal.

Constipation, Michelle is right the pain pills really do a number on you. I found the only thing that worked was a combination of stool softeners, fiber pills, and prune juice. I know it sounds crazy.

I hope you get to feeling better quick. Until then hang in there.

I'm sorry Air.  Try using stool softeners.  I use one called Surfkak (sp???)  Well, it's something like that.  Are you using Vicodin for pain??  If so, that causes constipation so def use the stool softeners to help and try to drink lots of water.  Eat lots of fruits and veggies also.  Just watch the really fiberous veggies so you don't give the baby gas.  You don't want to add that to your list!!!  But fruits and veggies have lots of water in them as well.

I am so sorry.  It sounds like we are all going through a lot of c r a p right now!!!

Oh wow...I am sorry you are having such a rough time! I pray things get better for you....

When my nipples were cracked and sore, I used this lanolin ointment by Medela and it helped...also, its not harmful to the baby..

Good luck and God bless!
