When to put baby in there cot?

Hi ladies wanted to ask when are you thinking of putting your little ones in their own cot in their own room. Zac is 11 weeks on monday and people keep asking if he is in his own room yet. I think its too early or am i just be over protective? I really dont wont to make a rod for my own back and leave it too late then he wont go when i want him too. What do you guys think? Kelly x

It's funny, we have just been discussing this the past few days.  Sam is 12 weeks and has been in his crib in our room so far.  We are thinking of moving him this weekend to his room.  He is doing a lot of the same things as you guys' LOs--waking up and talking to his mobile, and he also seems to be more easily disturbed by our activities.  For example, the alarm clock now wakes him up when it never used to.  So it seems the right time for him to move to his own room.  I think I will miss him being so close though!

wanttobe--i suggest you should only move him into his room if he's sleeping long stretches and you don't need to tend to him frequently in the night.

Owen has been sleeping in his own room for about two to three weeks now.  We even took the pack n' play down cuz we don't use it.  I do agree with the prevous poster about how they get more uninterupted sleep because I know Owen wakes up in the night and talks to his mobile friends :)... and when he'd wake up in our room he ould fuss a little bit which would cause me to wake up... Any who Owen will be three months on the 16 and he's doing fine in his own bed... and I'm a big beliver in if you don't get our little ones accustom to their own beds before they get too old to realize that it's different from where they are sleeping now, it will be a biger challeng for us all to get them to sleep the night in there.  Any who we are doing fine!

Bella was 8 weeks when I put her in her own room. Since then we've both slept much better! I've noticed she wakes up several times at night, but doesn't cry. She falls back asleep after a few minutes and before she was in her own room I would wake up with her too. Now I get more uninterupted sleep. I had to move her into a crib because she was scooting around into the sides of the basinette. Now in the crib she has room to scoot.

lily is 15 weeks now and sleeps in a sleeper bed, in our bed. during the day i have started putting her down in her cot to nap, but we have a assurance monitor to let me know if anything happens. Before i left the hospital they told me that the sids association recomends they stay in until 6 months of age but we will see how we go, at the moment i feel more comfortable with her in our room

As soon as we receive the kit to make Mickey's crib a stable side instead of a drop side (because all those were recalled...freaked me out even though ours isn't that brand) we will fix it and I'm going to try to move him in there. He will be 3 months on Dec 8th.. so far he's been sleeping in our full-size bed alone while we sleep on a futon mattress on the floor! He's blocked onto the bed of course....I didn't want him to get spoiled by sleeping with us, but also didn't want to put him in his crib after seeing the recalls on the news! I will probably be trying in about 2 wks though...assuming we get the kit on time.
