TMI breast question

Okay, I have a TMI question of my own now.  Prior to getting pregnant, I was not a small girl.  I have been obese for some time, but I have been doing well with my weight gain in pregnancy.  About 3 weeks ago or so, I noticed that I have a small hard nodule in my right breast.  I have to admit, I haven't been as good about my breast checks, and I don't know if it is truly new, or has been there for awhile.  When I asked my OB about it, he said that it was probably due to hormonal changes.  My question is, would you be satisfied with that answer and/or has anyone else had this problem?  The OB never did a breast check, even after I brought it up.  I'm just worried that it's a blocked duct, or something worse, and I won't be able to breastfeed.  I also don't know if it's just due to the fact that I'm overweight, and probably are more prone to cysts and fatty deposits.  Thanks for the input.

You can press Dr about it, or go to your family care provider but they will not do any mammograms while you are preggo, for some reason i always get lumps in my breast and i get a mammogram mayb 2 times a year, while be having one not long after baby is born.  My dr think it is the hormones right now, but at the moment i dont have any lumps, and yes it could very well be a blocked duct.

Sometimes when talking to your DR you have to tell them this is what you want and when will they do it.  At least thats how i am with my DR, i dont even talk to the nurses when i call with problems, i speak to my dr.(im a nurse myself so why do i want to speak to another nurse)  Im sure my Dr and the staff will be glad whe i have this baby lol.

Jus tell the dr your concerns and you want him/her to check it out

I just went to a breastfeeding class last night, and they said that lumps are often blocked ducts.  To find out, place a hot compress on the lump area and massage it to loosen the duct, and if it doesn't go away in 7 days to get it checked.  However, I am not sure if this works BEFORE baby is breastfeeding.

Also--you have hundreds of ducts so one blocked duct will not prevent you from breastfeeding.

I would also want it checked. It could very well just be a milk duct but as the other ladies said it is better to be safe. Good luck.

Definitely press to get it checked. Always better to be safe than sorry, even if it may seem silly and it's most likely nothing. That's what I would do.

Sorry, that answer would not be good enough for me. If I were you, I would press my doc about checking it out or get a second opinion from somewhere else. You can't take that lightly! My aunt had a friend whot thought she had a mosquito bite on her breast...it growed and growed and was found to be cancerous...she passed within a year of being diagnosed...not trying to scare you, but its better to be safe than sorry! Please keep me posted!

God bless...Juana
