If you have strep, they will prescribe you an anti-biotic. Most are safe when you are pregnant.
I hope you feel better soon!
Hello ...... Well, a few weeks ago, I had what I thought could have been strep throat. I should have gone into my doc right away, but I knew they'd give me an antibiotic no matter what, and I really didn't want to take one, despite the fact that they're "approved" during pregnancy. I didn't want to take one because I was pregnant in November, and my OB prescribed a round of antibiotics for a sinus infection, and I miscarried. Although the miscarriage was almost definitely totally unrelated to the antibiotic, I just didn't want to risk it this time!
I had most of the strep signs: sore throat lasting over a week, fatigue, swollen tonsils with white patches on them, etc. But lucikly, I gargled a bunch of salt water, and whatever it was just cleared up on its own. I think it was a bacterial infection other than strep.
Still, I wouldn't risk it. Especially if you have a fever. They say sometimes a fever could be worse than taking something that normally wouldn't be advised for a pregnant woman. I would just talk to your OB. They can prescribe "normal" medications for non-pregnancy-related issues.
