9 Months

Kaelynn turned 9 months Monday. She had her check up today.

She's 17lbs 9oz, 28 inches tall. She's 33rd percentile for weight and 66th percentile for height. The Dr said she's gonna be tall and thin.

The Dr said she's very advanced more like a 12 month old with great hand eye coordination and about to take off walking any minute.

She eats mostly finger foods now. She will clamp her mouth down and shake her head back and forth when I try and feed her anything on a spoon. She wants to do it all on her own. She loves chicken and pork. She doesn't really like green beans but will eat them. I have a huge cabinet full of baby food puree's I think I'm going to be putting them in sauces I cook. She wont eat them anymore.

She's been mumbling mom randomly for over a month now. Last week she actually started using the word and connecting it to me. She also says ball and will show you the ball or find the ball if you ask her where it is. She is so smart!

She has been pulling herself up and walking around things for a few months now. She's now standing up in the middle of the room with out any support for 20-30 seconds and then falling down. She took a half a step yesterday without any help. I was at work and missed it. I will be so sad if I miss her first steps. I only work 1 day a week just my luck it's that day she will decide to walk.

She's still not sleeping through the night. I'm up sometimes 3-4 times a night. Most nights it's just once or twice.

Were talking about TTC for #2 and when I see all the posts of the ladies that are already pregnant makes me jealous. I haven't even gotten AF back and don't even know if were gonna get to start TTC next month.

I can't believe 9 months have flown by - everyone seems to be doing so well.

Man, everyone's baby is so tiny - Finn was 20.5 lbs at his 6 month check up!  He has not had his 9 month visit yet so not sure how much he weighs.  He has 7 teeth (working on #8) - he is still breastfeeding but he usually gets one formula bottle a day when I am working because I cannot pump enough. He has a rough transition to stage 3 and sometimes gags so he primarily eats purees or stage 2 and finger foods.  He finger feeds really soft things - like Happy Baby puffs, steamed veggies, cheese, and bread.

He crawls on all fours a little bit (only when on the carpet) but he scoots around on his belly like a mad dog.  His loves, loves, loves to stand and does this as often as he can.  He just started cruising along furniture but he does not yet let go.  He babbles constantly and his only clear word is na,na.na for "no" - go figure - but he just starting to say mamama while looking at me.  He says dada all the time but he does associate it yet with his dad.

His favorite thing is to swing at the park - we do this every evening and he is brokenhearted when it is time to leave.

He is sleeping so well - I stopped feeding him at night at 5 months and he just recently started sleeping in his crib all night - from 9:30 to 7am  - then he comes into my bed to BF and goes back to sleep until 8 or 9.  I miss co-sleeping terribly but we all sleep better (and I still get my mornings with him).  He seems so ready to move on to the next milestone on his own - it almost seems like he is raising himself.  I did not do anything different - put him to bed as usual - just one night he stopped waking up at 12:30 to come to my bed - simple as that. And he just recently decided he no longer wants his pacifier - he took it out one day and has never wanted it again.  What a change from my intense newborn who would only sleep on my chest!!

Lost:  as others have mentioned, I would not worry about Lily - she just seems like a late bloomer and is taking her own sweet time in some areas. But you are doing the right thing by noting it and watching her development carefully. I feel that pediatrician miss developmental delays all the time and take a "wait and see" approach way too often and that parents are a child's best advocate.  So keep trusting your gut.  But again, I would not worry yet - nothing seems that off to me.

Clysta: regarding night terrors (they can be scary, huh?), it is a good thing that she is sleeping well because one of the main causes of them is being tired, but I am sure you knew that.

Night terrors?  Hmm!!  I wonder if that's what DS2 had and still sometimes has.  He used to do it frequently, not so much anymore. He would wake up SCREAMING bloody murder like someone had beat the crap outta him. NOTHING consoled him, not me, not DH, getting him something to drink, turning the TV on.  We just had to leave him alone and ride it out.  Whew!! Glad we don't go through THAT much anymore. Night terrors never raelly crossed my mind tho.

I'm a little slow on responding, but that's ok.

Everyone's babies sound wonderful!!! Try not to worrying Losing. I understand why you're worried (heaven knows I do constantly, even when my daughter isn't even the age to do certain things) but she's just doing them at her own pace. I would probably be concerned if she's not crawling by a year old or so. Just make sure and leave her on the floor A LOT---though I'm sure you already well know this.

Kylie is crazy-but in a good way. She is a little over 17 pounds, and some odd inches long. Probably around 27-29. (I'll find out for sure later this month at her doctor appointment) She has 2 teeth right now, and is cutting her top right one at the moment. She's crawling like crazy, and has also been standing for super short periods of time. Usually around 10 seconds and then she falls. She loves to get into everything, and finds things we don't see. Her favourite thing is the cat food and water. She loves to get into it and feel it in her hands. Then she throws it all over the floor. Luckily she doesn't eat it----or put much of anything into her mouth. She just likes to play with it all.

She doesn't feed herself anything much, but we also haven't really pushed it. We still are formula/bottle feeding (makes me super sad) and she learned how to hold it on her own within 2 weeks. I was super proud of her. We don't really bother with baby foods at all, though we did give her pears and such because she had a HORRIBLE bout of constipation that brought forth massive screaming and pain with each bowel movement. So far she eats anything that we do.

This girl does have one HUGE temper though. When she doesn't get what she wants she screams at the top of her lungs, smacks her hands on the table, bites my hands, shoulder and face, and throws a huge fit. She fully understands the word "No" and likes to test our limits. Whenever we tell her not to do something, she will either push out her bottom lip, cry and crawl to us and tug on our pants OR will look at us, make raspberries and continue what she's doing. She also can say Mama or Dada and points to which one is being talked about. She is also a little mean---though I don't know if all babies are like this, or just the ones in my family. She likes to try and bite her cousins head, and pulls on the back of her clothes to make her fall over. It's funny and mean all at once.

Bedtime is.......weird. She's very spirited (as you can see from my previous statements) so she goes to bed whenever she wants really. When she does sleep though, she sleeps all night long. She's started to get night terrors though. Horrible things to see. She wakes up screaming, but her eyes stay closed and she's unresponsive. After around 10 minutes it stops and she relaxes more. We just rub her back, and sit there in silence till it's over. It's hard though, because natural response is to pick her up and get her attention---which you're not supposed to do.

I totally wrote a novel, but that's ok. I hope everyone else is doing well!!!

Don't worry about Lily i am sure she will do everything all at once! Fynn just started sitting up all by himself and is trying to crawl but not there yet. Fynn only within the past couple weeks has had his 2 bottom teeth come in. He is eating purees, I am not sure what you mean by stage 3, i have the baby bullet so I just puree everything up, he likes the Baby Mum Mum crackers and I will give him the tiniest little pieces of bread, but definitely no table foods for him yet.

She will come along, like you have been saying, she wants to be the baby!

:(  I'm really feeling like my lil girl is being left behind.  She's not hitting her milestones like all of my other kids did, nor is she up to where all of your babies are .  I know all babies develop at different rates but I'm really beginning to get concerned :(

She has NO teeth, she's still working on going to stage 3 foods but has difficulty mashing some of them.  She does NO table foods.  She REFUSES to have anything to do with a sippy cup even if it has juice in it.  She's just now finally sitting unassisted for long periods.  She cannot get into a sitting position herself nor will she get on hands and knees.  She rolls from back to stomach but NOT stomach to back.  She LOVES her jumperoo and will bounce herself silly in it.  She's finally starting to babble some.

She was at the peds a few weeks ago for a sore throat.  He didn't seem concerned about anything.  She was 18 lbs 6 oz but they didn't measure her.

I know it's too soon to really be concerned about developmental delays but I can't help worrying.  I'm a Mom, it's my job!

emilee is a bit behind because of his prematurity but she is getting there....she eats the gerber puffs and loves them and i started giving her very small bits of what im eating to test her allergies and tolerance level

she wants nothing to do with crawling....she gets herself into position but then just puts her head into the floor and starts rolling wherever she wants to go...she loves to stand in her walker but no signs of walking yet either...i am ok with this because we are crammed in a 2 bedroom apt and baby proofing is not an option so the longer it takes her the better....we are moving next month into a house so i will baby proof from the start

her ped said she is right where she should be for a 2 month premature baby and even a little ahead of premature babies her age....she will get there....just not as quick as full term babies :)

she is 20 lbs 8 oz and 29 inches long...she def caught up to full term babies growth wise

I usually feed her what ever were eating. She won't eat avocado or bananas. I don't think she likes how they feel because she ate them purreded.

She eats pasta, rice, potatoes, susages, chicken, pork, carrots, green beans, toast, pineapple, watermelon, cheese, black olives,

Breakfast I always try and give her oat meal first but usually only get 3-4 bites in her before she decides she doesn't want the spoon. I then give her toast and fruit.

Lunch and dinner is usually whatever I'm eating. I see if she can eat it.

She has 10 teeth and is pretty good at using them. She loves the gerber puffs and earths best teething biscuits.

What kind of finger foods do you give her? Ive given lily chicken, carrots and avacado, and cereal puffs but i would like some more ideas.

I cant believe shes almost walking already! Lily is always pulling herself up but not trying to walk so much yet. if we hold her hands though she will walk to someone. very wobbly though.

I think you should try working on getting her to sleep better through the night (if youre not already). my doctor told me i should be doing this at my last visit. lily would wake up once or twice too to eat. my doctor said this is just a habit and she doesnt really need it. so instead of giving her a full bottle i give her only like 2 ounces. we're still working on it.

i think most people ovulate before getting their first period, so you never know!
