pregnant with head cold.

I am 11 weeks 6 days and have the worst head cold, I have a severe headache, sore throat (itchy), runny nose, ect. I get so bad at night that when i wake up in the morning I just throw up snot. Its miserable on top of nuasea already. I have read no decongestants which is what i need, the nurse said i can take tylonel, sudaphedrene, musanex, the pharmacyst said i]only thing he could recomend was tylenol and water. because anything else would restrict blood flow to the baby or make the baby drowsy. I was just wondering what every one has taken for a severe cold and not had any issues? Thanks

I bought a cough and cold steam inhaler from walgreens. It has helped quite a bit with the sinus congestion.  It realeases steam you don't use any fragrances or meds. I can't stand the smell of Vicks it makes me sick.

I have a cold right now, I have just been drinking a lot of herbal teas, brothy soups, and other fluids;
I also found soaking a cloth in hot water and putting it on my chest really helps, or either making a hot mustard paste compress for my chest or a hot mustard foot soak really helps the sinuses/chest congestion.

i had a cold too at 14 weeks and did the saline rinse too. i took a couple tylenol too when i had a fever to bring it down, make sure to check your temp and take a tylenol if it approaches 100. hope you feel better soon.

Sudaphederen is a decongestant. I'm illergic to it so I can't take it.

I'm 15.4 wks pregnant and got a head cold last week. I have been using a neti pot for saline rinse my sinuses were burning and bleeding due to the dry air. After using the neti pot my nose is better. I run a humidifier in my bedroom so it's not so bad when I sleep. It stinks being sick while pregnant. I also have a cough that gets really bad at night I haven't taken anything for it.

Hope you find some relief I know it stinks but you'll make it through it.

I had also had a terrible cold around 11 weeks (am now 15 weeks).  I took tylenol but what saved me was doing saline nasal rinses - it helped a ton with the congestion and allowed me to actually get some sleep at night.  I used the brand neo-med that you can buy at any drugstore - I highly recommend the squirt bottle as opposed to the neti pot one.  I also gargled with salt water.  This way I was able to avoid using sudaphedrene.

Good luck - I know how miserable it is to be sick on top of the nausea.
