I'm apart of a Facebook page called the diaper asylum, they re really good for questions. I've used washable a before with my other two and am using them with the one too. Though I'm using washable wet wipes too. You can buy from any price range and could even make your own with a few tools. Which is my next project. I love how individual they are. X

The WTE app has a green parenting message board that is FILLED with amazing information on cloth diapers. Check it out. Also, I took a cloth diaper class at a local natural baby store (ZukaBaby). See if they have any in your area. And do some research online. I found the class was best though because we were able actually put our hands on everything and see it in person. Plus it was taught by a mother with first-hand experience and local knowledge (for example we have hard water in our area, requiring some special laundering instructions, can't learn that online).

My son is over 2. we have been using cloth since he was about 8 weeks. (they were too big and bulky before then). I use baby genius which are about $20/each. I bought 17 or 18 and that was plenty. I wash them 2-3 days. I also use the bumpkins liners (they are flushable). Once a month I strip them with dawn soap and bleach. I think one of them has a small stain. the rest are still white.

30 seems like a good number. I think the 12 changes are closer to the newborn stage. I really don't remember as I was a zombie with my first. Check out clothdiapertrader.com

Who on earth changes nappies 12 times a day? I'm like maybe 6 at the most. And that's only if there's poo, otherwise It's more like 3 or 4 times a day. I do only use disposables though. Cloth might need more as they get way stinkier but surely 12 times a day is just overkill? Or are they just looking at worst case scenario? To have 36 so you're prepared? (although technically you'd then need up to 72 as the first 36 would be in the wash, then drying in the sun which can take 2 days in winter as they're quite thick).

Anyway my sister uses cloth and has about 30ish nappies and does a nappy wash every 2 to 3 days. The washing seems manageable but she always uses the line, not dryer, as the sun is very effective at bleaching and killing bacteria:) The nappies are cute but not good for wearing leggings on top as they're quite bulky (her baby already has a huge chubby bum and thighs and the nappies make her look so fat! In a cute way, not morbidly obese way or anything ;) )

I would start doing research online. I've been reading a lot the last two months and I've ordered about 20 so far from different companies and WAHMs (work at home moms). I've never done cloth diapers but I'm studying all I can about it!! The top of the line in comfort and function  that I can ascertain is from an American WAHM called Binky D diapers. They are pretty pricey at around $40 per diaper. I joined a FB group that I've found used (in good condition) for $14. I'll be buying new liners for it. I've been looking on Etsy and pinterest. I have gotten 6 diapers from different WAHMs on Esty to try. Most of my cloth diaper stash are what is called a "China cheapy" which are inexpensive diapers ordered from a Chinese website. They run from $6-$12 brand new. I've heard that gDiapers and Bum Genius's are good too but I haven't gotten any of those yet. Still doing my research!

As for how many you need well that depends on how often you want to do laundry. Most mom's recommend doing laundry realistically every 3 days. (Aiming for two days) and they say on average a baby needs about 12 diapers changed per day so that would be a stash of 36 cloth diapers. Some moms say that you can get buy with a stash of 24 diapers and on some light wettings just change out the liners and reuse the dry diaper shell. It's up to you and baby of course. I bought two packs of newborns eco-friendly disposables to use the first week and that cost $43 for the week so in the long run cloth diapers do save money and save the landfill from non-decompostable diapers.
