Ibuprofen Gel

I am nine weeks and have been experiencing back ache (due to an old injury) I usually get regular deep tissue massages and I know that I can't have them right now. I can't take ibuprofen but can I safely use ibuprofen gel to ease the pain?

I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers,  but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!  So maybe use deap heat instead as voltaren does have an active ingredient that gets absorbed into the body :)
