first ultrasound???

I am 9weeks, I'm 24yrs old, this is my first pregnancy (well I did have one miscarriage last year). I'm being told I won't get my first ultrasound til 20weeks?! I thought they do one at 10 weeks to check for baby's heart beat?? When are you ladies getting your first ultrasound?

Depends on the Dr and unfortunately your insurance. With my son I was on Medicaid and foodstamps my Dr didn't do my first ultrasound until I was 18+4. she made me feel like my babies health wasn't as important because I was on government assistance. This time around I' only on mMedicaid but I found a different Dr and my first appt is in a week I'll be around 9 weeks and she's doing an ultrasound at my first appt. Just talk to your Dr. And if you're in your 1st trimester you can always change Dr.

I had my first ultrasound today and im 8w4d. I feel like 20w is way to long seeing you've had a miscarriage before.

Thanks girls! It does really bother me that they have no intention of doing an ultrasound. This is my first time and of course I'm one of those paranoid first timers but still, I don't feel pregnant, other than breast soreness and I'm hungry more often. So other than blood tests and urine tests that they don't even show you...I just want to see a picture and/or hear a heart beat to put my mind at ease.

It really depends if you have complications or not how early you get an ultrasound. Sometimes if you talk to the doctor they will order you one for peace of mind. I am 9 weeks tomorrow i had an ultrasound at my first dr appoint sat.

20 weeks is way to long to make you wait and definitely unsafe if you have miscarried before I would contact your doctor with questions. I miscarried as well last year and have since had 1 ultrasound and another scheduled on Wednesday and I'm 8 weeks 2 days so I would be questioning why? Miscarriages are very common but I would still ask why your not being looked at just explain your feeling and how your worried and want to know everythings ok. Best of luck
