quad blood test

I'm just over 16 weeks. Last week I had blood drawn (had switched drs, so it was a lot of the regular prenatal ones). My husband and I declined any genetic testing, however, they accidently drew the quad blood test (yes, I'm annoyed but what's done is done) My risk is 1:150 for downs (age 30, 1sttest pregnancy). So now I just had the MaterniT21 (?) Test. I also have to get a level 2 ultrasound at 20 wks (was a level 1 previously).

Anyone else get abnormal quad test? My husband and I are very stressed now and this didn't even occur to us. We have no family history and I didn't think 30 was a HUGE worry...

My mother in law is a nurse in OB. I had talked to her about the quad test and she said that she sees a lot of false positives on the quad test. This is usually due to dating errors and that the level 2 ultrasound will clear all dating errors up. I pray everything goes well for you and that it is just a false positive.

Thanks. It's just a waiting game now for the materniT21 test to come back. Just more stress I did not need. Frustrated that the quad test was even ordered after I said no to it.

Keep in mind that 1:150 is about 0.007% chance. I know it sounds high when you're considering your little one, but the results of your marernit21 test and ultrasound should give you some pretty confident answers. Just because you don't have down syndrome in your family doesn't mean you can't have a trisomy child.  It has more to do with the meiosis process. Even if it does come back with a positive result, at least now you can prepare for it.
The genetic counselor might be a bit premature, but if they can help you just understand, it may be worth it.

I think at this point, you would be better off talking to a genetic counselor to answer some questions at least to help ease some stress?

One test isn't definite of any condition.

30 in itself with no family history shouldn't be a high risk.

I just talked to a genetic counselor cause of my age...(35)

I just had blood drawn today for the quad screen. I will let you know. I'm also 30 ftm.
