I am doing Kung Fu, we have had several students train while they are pregnant. I still do some ab work but just slower and pause whenever I feel like it. I don't do any impact stuff like hitting the bags. But most of the women at the dojo who had babies say that ab work outs help with delivery. One think to point out is that I've been doing this for two years so I've decreased from when I normally do.
Kung Fu? Wow, just the moves, no sparring or fighting, right?
I personally stop the ab wokouts bc I have had several miscarriages in the past and don't want to take chances.
There are alot of women who do stuff that I consider crazy. Like the woman who was running marathons, and there was one doing weight lifting-like body building.
3rdNdone, have you lost your baby weight from your last baby?
well, I was doing lots of strength training and resistance training last year, every day for an hour. Whether it's because I'm older (39) turns out my hormones couldn't handle that and a pregnancy. I was told that it's pretty hard to produce progesterone to maintain a workout like Like that when the workout itself was upping my cortisol levels to high and subsequently I lost that pregnancy. This time, I'm not doing even a bit of exercise which is super hard for me until 12 weeks - then I'm switching to Pilates and yoga and walking - the hard core exercise can wait till he/she is out then I'm straight back on the hard core exercise!!
maintain a pregnancy not a workout - haha what am I saying!
With my last all of the weight I came came off by my 2 week check up, that was with no exercise.
I usually do my at night too once the kids are in bed. I haven't taken out my ab workouts yet just continuing to do my usual things! I usually do cardio then a mixture of weights on different body parts. I ride my indoor bike and still do my boxing with my bad which has quite a bit of an abdominal workout. I did this all with my second and it was great I stopped the ab exercises and boxing in my third trimester as it became uncomfortable
yeah that's why I'm not exercising until 12 weeks then I'll have a look around online for some maintainence workouts - anybody recommend a good one?
I hike twice a week go to the gym 1-2 times a week and yoga 2 times a month
