General questions!

Hello, this is my first pregnancy and I just found out I was pregnant on the 8th of January.  I am six weeks pregnant today. I am very excited but have a million questions and I saw my doctor today but he didn't seem too interested in answering my questions. Just had me do my confirmation test and told me it was positive, not to go in the hot tub, not to clean the kitty litter and to eat healthy.

What foods are best for pregnancy? I don't currently have any morning sickness, just slight nausea. Are there any foods I should absolutely avoid? I eat quite healthy and do not drink or smoke.

What workouts are safe in the first trimester? I know that later on I won't be able to do many kinds of workouts because of the belly but are there any workouts that are not safe right now?

I am currently taking the centrum prenatal. I've been told by my doctor that as long as there's at least. 5 mg folic acid I'm good. There's 1mg. Are there any other vitamins or minerals that would benefit my pregnancy?

Hi and congrats! This is my 2nd pregnancy. I had Hyperemesis with the first pregnancy so I ate nothing....literally. I am eating anything and everything in sight this time. Don't worry too much about your diet. Eat what you want or crave. Just stay away from alcohol of course. A lot of websites tell you to stay away from stuff like lunch meat and mayo and cheeses....but most doctors and midwives will tell ya it's just a myth. So eat and be merry!! As far as working out, I'm not really certain on any of that.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Stay away from soft cheese look for the label you will want your cheese to be pasteurized. All meat must be cooked well done even steak. All egg must be completely cooked. No fish high in mercury, like swordfish, shark, and if you eat tuna watch your intake. There's a list of stuff to be cautious of like juicing, and caffeine intake and heated lunch meat, the list goes on annoyingly  so but find a doctor who cares about you and will take the time to get to know you during your visits, the more they get to know you they came better answer your questions. The most important thing is a healthy momma and healthy baby.

Hi,
Congrats firstly.
About the food, as far as I have seen in my patients they pretty much anything. At some point of time there occurs special carving for foods which you may hate. Ideally have fruits and vegetables. Fibers are helpful.
Iron and Folic Tabs are to be taken. Centrum is common choice for multivitamin. Don't have salty or sugary food as gestational hypertension and diabetics are common. Gestational hypertension can be very dangerous. Blurry vision, headache, pain in the abdomen are signs/symptoms of Gestational Hypertension. No smoking, no alcohol as you know already.
Visit the doctor 3,5,7,8,9 month if its fine.
Exercise like walking a few distance and doing normal household chores is fine like dish washing, vacuuming etc. Try not to squat like frog jumps etc.
Iron, Folic, Vit B1,2,6,12 Vit C are the once to be taken.
Edemas are common at the time of pregnancy. Stay healthy, wash hands and other general stuff.
Post Pregnancy exercises are the once you should do compulsorily to avoid perineal tear.
All the Best
Thank You

Oh sorry as for workouts early in the only recommendation is to stick with whatever workout level you are currently at and be trying to overdo it trying to improve fitness.

As above and your not supposed to eat any lunch meat unless heated. No raw fish, and have eggs and meat (steak) more well done. No more than 200mg of caffeine. No artificial sweetener. That's all the ones I can think of. Also be carefully not to overdo it if you juice and generally try to eat healthy.

Hey! I am exactly where you are in my pregnancy.
As far as doctors- they kind of suck, until you find a good one- which will probably be at the place where are planning on going for the rest of your pregnancy. Also, nurses have been a lot nicer than the doctors in my experience ! Lol
As far as food, I usually like to juice in order to get in those vegetables that I am not too fond of but that I know are really important. Protein is very important and so if fiber- fiber if you are constipated. No soy- well not a ton, no sub sandwiches and this is because the cheese and meat need to be cooked to a certain temperature. Try not to consume a lot of sugary drinks. I also only have nausea and my sister-in-law who is a nurse recommends snacking between meals and right before bed just to avoid morning sickness.
She also recommended Rainbow Light prenatal pills. It is a "horse pill" but you only have to take it once a day and it fulfills all of the nutrient needs.
This is my first pregnancy too but I am hanging on my sister-in-law's every word because she is a nurse and has had two very normal and successful pregnancies.
Hope this helps!!!
