Had early scan - thought was 7wks got told am 5wks. Should I be worried?

This is my 1st pregnancy and have been extremely anxious for everything to be ok. Paid for an early scan privately at just under 7wks and when I got there could see sac and embryo but was told am more like 5wks so no heartbeat. Should I be worried that I am being dated as earlier? I'm scared to wait 10 more days to scan again. Doesn't help that I suffer from anxiety and so came off medication when found out pregnant. Tips/advice so welcome!

Question; how did you all "think" you were a certain number of weeks? I mean what calculation did you all do? How do we really know how many weeks we are?

Thought I would update as I hate not knowing the outcome on these posts. Just went for another scan and saw the heartbeat! They said the dating is often out this early on but was so wonderful to see the little heart beating away! Thank you for your comments!

This happened to me, but unfortunately I went on to have a missed miscarriage. My cycles are like clockwork, and I know exactly when I ovulated etc so I knew mine was ending.  Fingers crossed you are just earlier than you think. xx

Yes, same thing happened to me for my first child. I thought I was like 9 weeks or so and PA said I was earlier than that. So she couldn't hear heartbeat but seen a sac. And for my second appointment, doc was able to detect heartbeat of my LO. Now she is 13 months!! So don't worry too much, you might have ovulated at a later date then you think. Same happened to me. Good luck

Thank you! Did you wait til your 12wk scan or go back again beforehand to double check?

Just know we are all anxious and worried.   There is always something to worry about and unfortunately it never goes away completely, even when the baby is here.   I actually just cancelled my dating scan.   I didn't want to pay for it and not in the mood for bad news even though I have no reason to think it could be bad.
I don't know where you had your scan done or how closely you've tracked your cycle.   Do you feel like the scan you paid for was reliable?

To be honest it was an odd experience - it was on harley street and I paid £100. If I could go back I think I wouldn't have bothered to do it. That plus my anxiety issues anyway have made me worse than before. It's so nice to hear others are feeling the same and it's not all me being a bit mental. Is this your first?

This is my first pregnancy as well, but I won't be going back until 8weeks, which is the two month mark. Go every month for check ups, if you are having doubts or just wanna check up on your baby, make an appointment to feel reassured, but don't stress too much.

I went in thinking I was 6 weeks and was actually 4. Don't be worried the extra 2 weeks you thought were the weeks your baby was planting.

Thank you so much for your response. I was so heartbroken not to see a heart beat and so scared. Your comment has really helped! Did you go back after 7-10 days for another scan to check or wait til your 12wk?
