My doctor only does on ultrasound at 20 weeks unless he has other reasoning for more. My first appointment they had me fill out family history of both my husband and my family. I also did blood work, urine sample, and a pap. They will most likely try to find the baby's heartbeat, but don't worry if they can't I was 14 weeks the first time I heard my baby's heartbeat.
They actually do a sonogram first tine, not sure who told you that..but good luck you'll be fine
They certainly did an ultrasound with mine, but I'm high risk, if they do one you will really not see much, you may see what is called the "yolk sac" it's not the baby, but it is attached so you can take comfort in that :) they may do one just to make sure the placenta is in the right place and that there is something inside of it growing, just things like that.
