37 weeks. Work descriminates me.Also in the middle of buying a house .

I'm 37 weeks today with my second baby boy . My work is still scheduling me alone as a cashier at a busy convienient store. They told me if I start labor while alone I have to wait for someone to get there . I say hellllll no . Thoughts about that ? Also we're less than 2 months from going to closing on our house and so that means I need to begin to pack . My anxiety and stress is through the roof .. doesn't help with a 19 month old running around

Well as long as things work out as planned I won't be returning after I have my child . They are hiring people starting at a higher rate than me and I'm coming up on my 2 years come December . So let's cross my fingers that my better job comes through

I would also google Department of Labor and Industry of your state and look up workplace discrimination laws and regulations. They might even have a hotline for you to call and speak to someone to clarify your rights. Once you know exactly what your rights are, you can stand your ground with your manager and even tell them what the consequences would be if they continued to discriminate. I had to do that before. Luckily, in my state it's illegal to discriminate against an employee due to pregnancy or pregnancy related issues. I was able to get my boss, who was also the owner, to stop pressuring me to quit (which she was trying to do by creating a hostile environment). Just telling her that the way she was treating me was illegal got her attention. I could have also reported her to the state, but it would not have done much for me, as she couldn't be fired as the business owner, so i ended up quitting and getting a better paying job anyway.

Don't let them pressure you like that. Know your rights and push back. Make an official complaint to HR for discrimination. If you did that and they fired you, it would be considered retaliation, which is most likely illegal also.

Thank you for your opinion ! I do agree and it seems most the head staff don't see a problem or think I'm being a baby and whining over it all .  When I started here I was pregnant with my first son and very different management. She loved children and would barely let me lift a finger cause she knew the importance of a healthy pregnancy. Me and another coworker are currently trying to reach HR about many things that would not be acceptable if known about ... and I am married but my husbands Income is enough (in my opinion) I like to have  xtra cusion when it comes to money and so does he so I continue to work to keep our stresss down about money .

Your work are callous to say that.  If possible demand on having a second member of staff present or tell them they'll force you into an earlier maternity leave.   Because ensuring your child's safe and stress free arrival into this world, is worth more then them saving money keeping their establishment understaffed.

Go straight to HR or escalate matter up to head office.  Be forceful and unapologetic.  I would talk to your union if u have one also.

Personally I wouldn't accept that.  My partner would tell me to quit.  But if your single I can understand the necessity.  Blessings.x
