Milk helps momentarily and gives fast relief but doesn't last long. Zantac saved my life taking one in the morning and one at night. But my doctor waited til 37 weeks to prescribe it to me, I guess because I didn't express how bad my heartburn was and how constant. The same midwife who prescribed it to me is the same one who told me a month or two before that I could take Tums as needed, no matter what the bottle said (cuz I was getting it so often that I only took one each time to try and not go over the limit for pregnant women and she said one would do nothing). Do yourself a favor, and don't get married to Tums. Take Zantac and drink milk in the times that you didn't take it in time.
Thank you so much for the advice!! I'll try all of these things. So appreciate it!
Prilosec for the acid/heartburn but to stop the choking at night try to eat more in the morning and at lunch and keep dinner light and early...I have to stop eating at 4pm or 5pm to keep this from happening but I'm on prilosec so my heartburn is completely gone
If it's accompanied by any back pain, even lower pain that you might think is your siatic, get checked out. It could actually be bile reflux from your gallblader. I went for months like this and ended up having a gallblader attack. It's not uncommon for pregnant women to get gallstones because of the increase in estrogen.
I used to feel the exact same way. My doctor told me to take Zantac 150. Once in the morning and once before bed. Stay away from greasy foods and sit up for at least an hour after eating. Hope that helps
I get this too :-( im still trying to find something that works
