After birth question..?

How long do you have to wait to have sex after you have your baby? I'm only 28w 5d but I'm just wondering. I keep reading stories of how people get pregnant right after having a baby.

Thank you! I was just curious. I'm going to ask my doctor when I'm closer to my due to date.

You can take a progesterone only pill while breastfeeding and then after a couple months (once you've established a milk supply) you can be switched to an estrogen containing pill. Its advised that you wait 6 weeks to have sex after delivery (both csection and vaginal) in order to allow your body to recover from the pregnancy. Your cervix needs to fully close and your uterus needs to contract back to normal size.

these are good questions for your dr. but the general rule is six weeks postpartum before any sex to heal ( you typically have a good amount of bleeding after delivery that can last 4 weeks) and your cervix needs to shrink again to protect and prevent infection. And im pretty sure you shouldn't be birth control if breastfeeding. im a ftm but im going off of what ive read, my midwife has said and information from friends. i have a feeling once baby is here you wont be in a rush to have sex, you'll be sore from delivering for a while and then probably very sleep deprived for the first few weeks, god bless you if your in the mood. :)

Then you don't. Nothing bad happens. I think they tell you that so you can recover. To know for sure talk to your Dr.
