Anyone else a vegetarian?

I have been a vegetarian for over a year now. I am 15 weeks pregnant and haven't gained any weight. The doctor isn't concerned now but I'm worried he will eventually say something. No I'm not going back to eating meat. The smell of it makes me sick. I was just wondering if anyone else was and what were they doing?

My middle daughter turned me into a vegetarian during pregnancy. I like meat and do eat it, but when i was pregnant with her i could not.at.all. she is 10 now and still a vegetarian so i watch her protein intake. After this pregnancy i may eat like her! You will be fine. Low iron is really common in all pregnancies and you can take supplements to help.

Thanks girls! Didn't know how this would work out this pregnancy being vegetarian because with my daughter I wasn't but I didn't eat a lot of meat because every thing made me sick this time I'm not sick but was worried about being vegetarian. I can't go back to meat because the smell and texture is awful to me lol.

Nope but I nearly turned vegetarian this pregnancy, can't stand most meat! I'm still eating eggs, canned fish and bone broth, but really don't enjoy anything else. Naturopath told me to add beans n legumes to lots of my meals for extra protein.

I have been vegetarian all my life, and so far I'm found okay! You can get your protein from nuts, dairy, eggs if you eat them and beans. Tofu is good source of protein too. Make sure you eat green leafy vegetables, or fortified cereals for iron! Just google it n you will find all the food you can eat for your daily needs during pregnancy! You will b fine!

Im a vegetarian and have been fine throughout most of my pregnancy im now just over 37weeks. At last checkup my iron was a bit low but not low enough to be a problem. Just make sure u eat some green leafy veg for iron and if ur struggling to get enough protein u can always take a supplement. But my baby is measuring at the right size and i have gainned weight. But wasnt till i was about 25wks that i really started to put on much weight. Good luck

I'm not a vegetarian but I could be easily. There are plenty of foods to get good nutrition from in addition to taking your prenatals. Just research what amounts of what you should be taking in. Embrace your diet and enjoy your pregnancy :) good luck

I was vegetarian for yrs before pregnancy but im eating small amounts of meat now only because I wasn't getting the recommended amount of protein during pregnancy. However, you can have a very healthy pregnancy while being vegetarian, you can find lots of info about proper diet/nutrition online. Its also normal to have not gained any weight that early in pregnancy.
