I think it may be worth asking how they found out, and I agree....that unless you signed saying that they could leave a detailed message than they are breaking HIPPA laws and no matter how big or little the town is, it's the law.
My mom lives 3 hours away and i hadn't seen her since october she really truly guessed because we talk on phone everyday.. It wasnt until valentines day everyone was together we broke the news.. My bff and i guessed maybe the clinic made a call home and mil answered i told my husband they usually let ppl know your business when they leave a msg and thats not just clinic its from everyone school pharmacy thats just how they r used to here i guess
Before I complained, I would ask your husband's family how they knew. I looked at your profile and last week your mother had already guessed you were pregnant - could someone in your family have told your husband's family?
Either way, it wouldn't be that hard to figure out whether people in the doctor's office were breaking confidentiality or if they got their information another way.
I would put in a formal complaint through your Grantham health care provider. Ok, so they haven't divulged any embarrassing medical condition, but that isn't the point. Anyone who works in that profession, whether it is your OB or the person who answer the phone, they are legally bound to patient confidentiality, which in your case sounds like it had been breached.
Well if its staff that's breaking HIPPA, or other patients in the office?
