Since it's going to be summer then how about bbq hamburger and hot dogs. Can always make it potluck style.
Those are great ideas, there's always pasta as well
I did Sandwhichs and finger foods.
Chips, popcorn, veggies, fruit, sandwiches (I usually do egg salad and tuna), pasta salad, and cake or some sort of dessert. Doesn't need to be fancy :)
I had a brunch buffet for mine. We had eggs, sausage, muffins, danish, fruit, bagels, Homefries, juices
Everyone loved it
I am doing finger foods . Sandwiches cut in halves , cheese dip , little smokies sausages in bbq sauce , possibly tuna or chicken salad sandwiches . I would think bbq could get very expensive . Crackers & cheese , fruit . This day is about you not everyone else . That was something hard for me to realize too ! Lol
Hmm we were thinking chicken sandwiches but we don't know how to make that lol
Any recipes?I've looked on pinteest & didn't find a simple but yummy one.
U can write recipes on here or email to me bethany _ puente @ yahoo . com no spaces everything together
Tried to email you but wouldn't go through . Here is a very easy simple recipe too chicken salad . http://www.food.com/recipe/easy-chicken-salad-sandwich-287126
When I had my baby shower we made 2 crock pots full of sloppy Joe's, veggies and fruit, chips, punch and cupcakes and cookies
Also I don't know where you live but up here in the Midwest pork is super cheap lately buy a few pork shoulders for $5 and throw them in a crock pot with seasoning and a can of beer for like 8 hours and serve pulled pork sandwiches! Way cheaper than chicken or hamburger at the moment.
Nachos lol thats what i gave on my baby shower and everyone love it
I'm doing barbecue pulled pork sandwiches. Its so easy to make and really hard to mess up. You just throw pork shoulder in the slow cooker for 8 hours with sliced onions, garlic, salt and pepper and beer, beefstock or root beer, then when it's done pull it apart and add barbecue sauce. Then I'm doing fruit and veggie trays and a lot of salads. All stuff I can make a day ahead of time and is cheap! Lol
My best friend Is Puerto rican, and So Is my fiance, So my best friends grandma made a big pot of Spanish rice,And potato salad, her mom made a pork shoulder and shredded It in a big pan, and my fiances aunt made yucca, Some fish salad type thing That I didn't eat cuz I Don't like fish But alot of people At The shower loved, and Also Some chicken That was really good. Then I had Some chips and salsa, and gold fish since my theme was under The sea. So If You know any one willing to help out That can cook good, ask them about making a decent sized dish and each person can make something That will correspond with each Other.
Thank you I'm doing everything myself I haven't had any offers/:
But family have bought the baby things such as crib bassinet and those things.
So I'm putting everything myself.
Babyshower wise. Big headache hoping for a good turn out gift wise haha
Bbq pork goes a long way and it pretty cost efficient. You can buy a few pork roasts cook them in the slow cooker add sweet babyrays shred. Have buns and a few side dishes. Something you can prep ahead too.
I just did snacks stuff the time of day was perfect for it....off subject this thread just made me hungry lol
My coworkers are throwing my job babyshower and the invitation request the guest provide a dish
Im hungry now LOL...... i just buy the 6 foot subs at walmart deli. Serves about 30 ppl and only costs like $25. Then i just buy chips, dip, veggie and meat trays. Good luck.
My shower is Sunday and it's a brunch...we are having muffins, bagles, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, and some pastries and for those who can mimosas...I'll of course will be having just some juice wah heheh
I was always told someone else had to host a shower for me and that it was not PC to throw for yourself....But I see many women on here who do throw thier own shower, not just for first baby as is tradition, but for every baby thereafter. Times are changing!
Since you don't have much help try some of these out....
Ceasar Salad is very inexpensive and very easy to throw together by yourself. Buy stuff at Costco/Sams/Resturaunt Supply
Baked Potatoes/Potato Bar is also super inexpensive and easy to do.
Vegies are less than fruit, easier to cut/prep a day or two in advance and put in large gallon zip locks with a little water in fridge.
Confettii Spegettii Salad....Spegettii noodles with some yellow pepper/olives / green onion with stems chopped/chives /red cherries tomatoes 1/2 or red pepper or pimintos....throw a bottle of iltaluan dressing over it and marinate overnite. Colorful, tasty, filling, feeds alot inexpensively.
With 75 invited, I would think someone would want to help in kitchen....
Punch is cheaper than soda pop. So is Spa Water which is simply chilled water with fruit or mint etc in it
There's no law saying that you cannot host your own shower, usually someone in your family or a friend wants to plan it but it is fine for you to do your own, it's just planning a shower is something you don't really need to deal with when your closer to delivery however if your up to the challenge...more power to ya!
I has my brunch shower yesterday and it went really well, for those who are planners I wouldn't buy any clothes for the baby till after the shower cause most people will not stick to the registry and will buy an outfit of some sort and thst will leave you money to get extra essentials, I have only 23 days now till my due date and I didn't get some things thst I really needed on my registry I have to run around and buy them in the next Fer days....kind of stressful, a pain and it's money that I'll now have to spend that I did not plan for.
