is there any other way to help pain other than the epidural?

So I'm having my first in March. And I'm deathly scared to get the epidural. Because my mom was allergic to it and had to give an emergency c section because she couldnt breathe. I'm allergic to a lot of the things my mom is but I don't know if I'd be allergic to the epidural. I want to try to do all natural and no drugs but I have a feeling that I'll end up yelling give me the drugs. So is there any other meds they can give you that will help with the pain?

With my son i needed something before I could get the epidural.  They gave me something to take the eedge off.  I didn't remember what it was called but it made me feel drunk. So when my daughter was born and i needed something i said "can i have the drug that makes you feel drunk." They knew exactly what I meant.

There are other pain meds. But I went with epidural.  My best friend had something else. It just took the edge off. I forgot what it was called.

I went natural with my last and I got a tub room at my hospital.  The tub had a shower and jets. it felt good during my painful contractions. I think being able to try new positions, walking and medicine ball also helps. Nothing to be scared of, you are strong.  I tried the epidural with my first and didn't have the results I expected. Honestly preparing yourself mentally but being super determined to grit through it helps. I heard there is a lot of other pain relief measures too, just do what is best for you.

They offer an IV drip if you forego the epideral.
