Breastfeeding while pregnant, HELP!

Hey ladies, just confirmed today that I'm expecting my second, 5 1/2 weeks in, and have a 9 month old at home. He's currently Breastfeeding and I've heard mixed opinions some say to stop some say its fine, I was hoping to hear some of your experiences with it? Did you breastfeed while pregnant and is that child fine? Thank you very much!

I found out I was pregnant wen my first was 8 months and I continued breastfeeding until he self weaned at 12 months a few days after his birthday! I am now 37 weeks and baby is doing great and measuring right on track. My nipples were a little more tender at first but nothing really serious. My midwife jus told me to make sure I was drink enough water and keeping up my calories!

I breastfed my son while pregnant, I did it until I was 3 months pregnant or so. Then he kind of weaned himself, he started not asking for it during the day and only at night and then he just started falling sleep without. I don't know what it was, but it was a smooth transitions. I breastfed my son until he was a year and 5 months. And both my son and the baby growing in me were and are fine.

I was in the same boat as you! I found out I was prego when my first was only 9 months. She never stopped or seemed uninterested in breastfeeding so I continued until her first birthday and by that time she started to lose interest and basically self weaned. They say your milk might change and the baby won't want it anymore, I dont know if this was the case with my daughter or if she was just ready to switch to whole milk. It was a smooth transition.I just made sure I was eating enough, drinking a lot of water, and taking my vitamins so my body could nourish me the baby in utero and still make milk for my first baby! Good luck and God bless!

Breastfeeding while preg and then tandem feeding is one of the most beautiful rewarding experiences. Unless you have an ultra high risk pregnancy there's no reason to stop

You can breastfeed while pregnant.  The milk will turn thick and colustrum like after a while but still fantastic for baby.  I've heard that some babies really love the ticker milk too.

I would advise you to tell your OB or health care provider that you are going to continue to breastfeed during pregnancy so that they can better advise you on your health and nutrition requirements throughout your pregnancy.

Most women are told to stop breastfeeding when they are trying to conceive because breastfeeding causes some women not to have their period.  But since you got pregnant already, you can just continue.

I breastfed my first for 3 months while pregnant with my second. I Was told it is fine. I just didn't like it. It got uncomfortable for me. I just weaned my second child because I'm pregnant again but he is 22 months so I didn't mind weaning him. I pushed my first to nurse longer because he was only 6 months when I got pregnant with number 2. I know people who nurse all throigh pregnsnxy and go on to tandum nurse. Its safe unless you are high risk.
