Terrified; Big baby on the way!

Hello everyone. I'm 35w 6d. We had our sonogram today and my little girl is already 6 lbs 4 oz. 4 More full weeks to go if we make it to term and expected for her to gain 8-12 oz a week. I'm happy she's healthy but my goodness I'm terrified of an 8 lb or more baby coming out of me! My doctor said I'm not showing any signs of an early labor so far so I'm keeping my mind focused on going all the way.  Any advice for this ftm? I heard perineum massages help especially for ftm vaginal deliveries.  Thinking about it makes my body ache!

Im on number five. First was 8 12 with epidural, didn't tear and didn't feel it. Second was epidural that was wore off so I felt it and was fine she was 8 3 again no tearing. Third was 7 8 with no epidural, no tearing. Fourth was 8 3 no epidural no tearing and I survived all of them. Hoping for a healthy no epidural delivery again in march.

I was told my son would be around 7lbs 8-9 ounces ....He came out 9lbs 6 ounces! I'm a smaller girl 5'1 and was 110 before getting pregnant. no c sec required so don't let them push you into that either!

Ditto everything PP said. That is an estimate that is often very wrong. For instance, I have a friend who was told her baby would be over 8 pounds and too big for her to deliver on her own. She is the exact same size as I am a send my first baby was 8 1/2 pounds. I delivered him just fine. Her doctor insisted she needed as mind c section and scared the hell out of her. Her baby was born weighing just over 6 pounds.
On the other hand, another friend who is 5'6" just delivered an 11.5 pound baby completely naturally with the help of her midwife. Except in absolute emergencies, your body knows what it needs to do. Just let it happen.

It upsets me that Drs do this to so many women. 1. The weight is an estimation, off by 1-2lbs. 2. Growth is on an average; just because they are a certain weight now doesn't mean they will exactly gain their exact expected weight each week. 3. And lastly, having a baby over 8lbs isn't the end of the world! Your body prepares for the baby it's growing. Tons of women have 10lb babies and are just as fine after as someone with 6lbs.

You'll be fine!
