Now baby Burberry might be something I am willing to splurge on!!
@rockrose I actually hail from Dubai so compared to there, Dallas is actually very toned down haha. But I actually travel to Austin when I need a weekend getaway so I'll keep my eye out for an Amish store.
@ashleyb1221 That's good that you're sticking with one system. We have had to order all of our items since they're not in stores. I was surprised to see that baby's r us carries Stokke since it's 1,200$. Unfortunately they didn't carry the Nuna PIPA so we had to pretty much buy everything from Neimans. I highly suggest visiting Neimans, if only to see what stuff they offer. I know they're having a sale right now on Baby Burberry haha.
@dallasmom, I am using pinterest for room designs and etsy to purchase wall decals and such. I believe they have bedding also, but was actually surprised that I found the chevron pattern bedding that I wanted at babies r us. They have many more designs online than they do in store.
My car seat/stroller is the Graco click connect. My sister bought the car seat last yr for my nephew but when he got his helmet, he didn't fit, she only used it for 3 months so its like new. She is buying my the matching stroller as my shower gift. It's nice to be able to save that money and put it towards something else.
@isak, there is nothing wrong with buying expensive items or using hand me downs, but I do know from research that as far as crib mattresses go, you can not buy a cheap one, the better the mattress the less risk of sids! That is one of the only things I am actually spending tons of money on
Well, Dallas certainly seems like the perfect fit for you. ;D
If you ever come to Austin, we have a beautiful Amish Furniture Store with cribs.
My husband and I are researching bedding now but there are so many options and so few reviews and resources. I will check out pottery barn. I didn't even think to look there.
One thing that was suggest to me was to make sure the car seat works with the stroller.
We don't know the gender yet either so all of our purchases have been black and grey. Have you any resources for cute decoration designs?
I'm picking and choosing what is necessary to spend money on. My Bob stroller was around $400, and the car seat is about $200 (haven't purchased yet). As a runner/active person, that was worth every penny. The crib/furniture will be hand me down from my bff, which will totally justify my Pottery Barn room design stuff. I think anything you're going to use for a long period of time is worth putting money into, especially if it means getting that perfect item. I searched for used Bob strollers, but couldn't find the black/black style I wanted.
Where are you guys getting your crib bedding? So far I have been most impressed with Pottery Barn, but I haven't actually looked much. Our lil' bundle of joy is going to be a surprise, so I am aiming for blacks/greys/neutral colors.
Is there something wrong with buying a $1000 bed despite the baby not remembering it?
There's nothing at all wrong with hand me downs but does that mean that I should not talk about the things I purchase for my child? I understand that some moms can't afford designer items, but that doesn't mean we can't share our purchases that we are proud of.
I think that the norm is more on tight budgets. Good for you that you are able to afford this stuff. As for me all three of mine have hand me downs except for cribs and carseats. It's not about how much money you spend but how much love and care you put into it. Babies won't remember if they slept in 1000.00 dollar bed or a 200.00 bed.
No other stylish mommies out there??
@emmynic That's why we are only buying things like the stroller and other gender neutral items. What are you thinking of getting?
I'm only 7 weeks but I've been doing lots of product research and I started a registry for when I decide on an item. Husband and I agreed to put off buying stuff until we learn the sex but the wait is killing me!
Here in Texas we have nothing like that. Would be lovely though to have something we know was hand made.
Awe, that makes you a good daddy. I'm not buying just yet. Only 12 weeks so waiting a bit longer. Very excited though to start.
Yes they are. my wife and I went to lancaster pa looking and ee fell inlove with the manhattan series. also getting the dresser and changing table. I think I am one of the happiness dads out here. looking at things before my wife do. lol
Love the Amish made cribs. They are of great quality and beautiful.
My wife andbi is getting a manhattan crib made by the amish. We are also getting the kit so as they get older it will become a full size bed and a day bed.
Haha yes it can get expensive but it's for the baby!! I want to spoil my child to oblivion
@chelsjean, @dallasmom, we just bought that crib! I loove it, can't wait to put my Lil guy in it when he arrives! Love the fact that the changing table is attached for convenience and that it will convert when he gets older! We also bought the matching dresser will will hopefully work for him for a while. It was expensive but I think we'll worth it!
We bought the stroller in my picture. All gender neutral colors (stroller is grey and car seat is too).
I wish the stores carried higher end stuff. We have a personal shopper at Nieman Marcus and it's so hard waiting for the items to be shipped so we can try them out. Thankfully it's getting done though.
And for you small ladies out there, get the Nuna PIPA as your car seat. Not only is it one of the safest on the market it's also the lightest!!
I have been researching online but excited to go in the store and look at them in person. I haven't started buying because baby room is currently a guest room that I need to get rid of all the furniture that's in there first.its slowing down my baby shopping frenzy. I guess in a good way.
Im 20 weeks and super excited to buy stuff but have faught against it till i know thw sex and after my baby shower! I do already have a crib though!
I think I know which one you're talking about. The Esprbuilt Sorelle Verona? It has the changing table built on side?
My husband is looking at the Pod Crib by Ubabub for us. I like the idea of no bars.
I'm 14 weeks also but haven't gone on my buying spree yet, I'm definitely looking! I know exactly what crib I want though. It's at Babies R Us and it's one that converts into a toddler's bed and then later on a full bed. It's one of the more expensive ones but I think down the road something like that will benefit any parent :).
