I suffer from coldsores all my life and I know while I'm pregnant my hormones have been all over the place and brings them out more. ..everyone has the cold sore herpes virus it lays dormant in your back but some people get it others don't. ..you just might be a carrier of it and because of your wacked out hormones it has just now decided to appear...sorry to hear
Wrong^^^^ not everyone has the herpes virus that causes cold sores. You have to contract it. However, you could have had it a while and never had symptoms. Stress and hormones can cause a sore to show up. Just make sure when baby comes you don't kiss it if you have an active sore or feel symptoms that one is coming.
Yes my correction you may have contracted it anyway by sharing a cup..toothbrush kissing..lipchap..etc then when u are infected by it it lies dormant. Just be careful because you could spread it so no contact with anyone orally while u have the sore and make sure you rinse your toothbrush with very hot water to kill any germs left on it. Cold sore suck :/
Hydrocortisone will totally take the pain away. Works better than any prescription for mine.
I use campho-phenigue right away when I feel it coming and that really helps. Use it a lot at first and the sore won't get nearly as big. After starting to do this my biggest problem is keeping the lip moisturized enough so that the sore doesn't split open and bleed.
Valtrex..it's pills you take the minute u feel the tingling then take more 12hrs later and it kills it..life savor but ***** when y don't have the pills on ya
Herpes type 2.. You can be a dormant carrier or have it actively It's contagious so be careful around the baby! Ur doctor might prescribe u some medications for it. (I'm a dormant carrier)
Cold sores are actually hsv1 not 2, and 80% of the world's population has it whether or not it is non symptomatic or presents as sores
I've currently got a cold sore too on my upper lip! I got it on Saturday I'm 29wks+2 it's so annoying!
I've had them since junior high school and they're always horrible, no matter when you get them. I use the small, round little containers of Carmex to help with them - once you get attuned to what they feel like (tingly/tender spot on your lip, you're rubbing that part of your lip more, or chapping) if you catch them early enough, you can lessen their duration with it. Works wonders for me! More so than Abreva or any $20 tiny tube of stuff
I am almost 28 weeks and I got mine on Saturday as well. Ever since it came I have been putting running alcohol on it and Carmex and it's getting better everyday but yes it is VERY ANNOYING.
