Contractions or no?!?

I'm 39wks pregnant with my second child, due Friday April 24th. At my last appointment I was 2-3cm dilated, and I've been having cramps off and on since yesterday morning (it even hurt to walk). This morning I'm having cramps again, so I started timing them. Their about every 15-10mins lasting about 30-45secs. I've told my husband we might be making a trip to the hospital if they start getting closer or more intense. Am I having contractions and what should I do?

I went back to the hospital a few hrs after leaving and was about 4cm, I progressed VERY quickly and was ready to push before my Dr. got here. I gave birth to a beautiful healthy 5pd13oz baby girl @10:24pm!!!

Yeah, my memory is foggy as my son's birth was 17 months ago, but they suggest 3-1-1. A contraction every 3 mintes, 1 minute long for 1 hour. If you arnt far enough along yet they do just send you home. I would just get in the shower/bath, relax, turn on some relaxing music. Your gonna need all your strength when it's go time :)

Update: I went to triage, I was monitored for about an hr, and the outcome was I'm still at a 2-3cm dilated with contractions 9mins apart. Needless to say I was sent home! My Dr. was in  the building so I told her DO NOT go to sleep tonight because I WILL be back!!! As soon as I left the hospital and now that I'm home, they are coming every 3-6mins. Smh!!!

It's best to stay home for as long as possible, you are more comfortable and it is less likely to encounter intervention. Like pp said they usually suggest heading in when your contractions are 3-5 minutes apart and 1 minute long. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice. Their about 5-7mins apart now. So I'm gonna time them another 30mins or so then probably head to the hospital if their still every 5-7mins.

Maybe but don't go in until they are 3-5 minutes apart or they'll probably just send you home. Only a crappy dr would break your water at 5 cm.

You may want to go ahead and go, you could be dialted more, and if you reach 5cm they will keep you and break your water and get the process moving
