Natural definitely went smoother for me. Got the epidural with my youngest because of back labor & I will forever regret it...they went too deep and I had spinal fluid leaking, couldn't move anything from chest up for 3 weeks, couldn't even lift my head up. That was 2 years ago, still to this day get the worst shooting g pains through my head because of it. Id much rather go through those hours of pain this time than to go through weeks/a lifetime of pain!
Ever since I got the epidural it messed up my back I had it twice with my first to then went natural with the other two
Just do what you feel is right. If the pain gets to painful and exhausting then get the epidural. Just try to go as long as you can.
I'm expecting my first child in ten weeks.. I'm not sure what method to use
Stay out of your own head. Put a good movie on. Try everything you can to ease pain. Shower, bath, ball, walking. Be positive and ask those around you to be encouraging. I had two with and three without and like wayfunmommy the natural goes so much better. If you can make it to 6 you can make it to ten is what I tell myself. Good luck. Also, My best friend had her daughter in three hours and acted like she wasn't bothered by it at all. We couldn't play tag as kids without her crying about a stubbed toe. I couldn't believe it. You just never know.
I've delivered 2 babies with an epidural and 2 naturally. My natural deliveries go far more smoothly than epidurals.
Look into hypnobirthing and the Bradley method.
Hi there. You still have control when you push with an epidural sweetie. You just don't feel as much pain. Just wanted to clear that up. When you say go smoother, what to you mean? Breathing and being really calm help.
