Make sure he looks up and follows the safety requirements, like distance between slats, etc. Personally, I'd steer him toward something like a dresser instead. But that's just me. There's a lot of safety requirements for a crib, and it can be dangerous if you don't follow them.
That's awesome. I'd back him on it. Take a look at the cribs you like and ask him if you can both have some input and if he says yes, give him some pics with the things you would like in the crib and let him have at it and put his own personal touch on it. This is a great bonding experince for you all. Both of you have some input and its made especially for the baby. It shows you trust him.
This sounds like it would be very special to him, so please let him. This is one of his bonding experiences before the baby is born.
I love the idea of it but I don't know if I would like the limitations it would put on crib functionality.
Most cribs I looked at had different bed heights and are convertible to a toddler bed then a full size bed. Will the front lower like a normal crib?
I would make a list of stuff like that that you would like in your crib. If he can accommodate those then go for it. If not I would ease him into other projects. So far for my nursery I did a lace pattern dresser, toy chest, bed canopy. So many ideas on pinterest to keep him busy and have a fully DIY nursery.
I think it is a nice idea but I am sure that things have to be to code or very specific for a crib. Not as strict for a bassinet though. He should look into it for sure and if it is legal then that is awesome
I would because he could make it the design you want and save some money.
What a lovely idea. Putting his own little stamp on something. At least he is interested in doing something for the baby.
As long as it is safe of course : )
