There's been alot of controversy about having my first to be newborn sleeping in a crib. Some people say it's dangerous to leave them sleeping by themselves, that they could stop breathing and I wouldn't know until it's too late. Others encourage the idea of trying to get them to not be so attached. Any advice?? I want my baby to be able to sleep well without the need of holding or having to lay with her all the time.

I've had 5 kids and one on the way, they all slept in the crib but i had the crib in my bedroom. main thing is not to have pillows, stuff animals, or anything that the baby can get smuggled by or suffocate... only have a blanket with bby and make sure its not to high to go over the babies face. btw congrats on the baby

Read the SIDS guidelines, decide what suits you best, and make an informed decision. We had our son in a bassinet next to my side of the bed and he was such a noisey sleeper we had to move him into his own room after like a week. Not long after that we transitioned him to the crib. That's what suited us. Good luck!

Keep your baby in a bassinet next to your bed for a few months until it grows out of it. Afterwards baby will stay in a crib and around 10-12 months you can start keeping your baby in their room. However, each baby is different and requires more or less time away from mom/dad.

K have a pack n play which has a crib in it, also a bassinet AND A lullaby napper that vibrates, plays music and has an awesome night light that shines stars on the ceiling and a mobile. The daddy keeps saying that he doesn't need all of that because they're all made for the same purpose. But honestly I'm gonna want a crib too lol. I'm not taking anything back but any advice on what's the best thing to use? This is my first baby:)

If you choose to use a crib, just a fitted sheet on the mattress, no toys or blankets. Lay the baby on its back. Keep a baby monitor nearby. Its really not safe to sleep with your baby.

I kept mine in a bassinet next to my bed for the first few weeks just to make it easier for breast feeding all I had to do was sit up and my baby was there. I put them in a cot at 6 weeks I was lucky to have them sleep 8 hours from then on and still do 2 years later :) so whatever you wanna do, do that because there is no right or wrong
