I think every single mother should be tested at every single appointment for drugs!!
If you aren't on any drugs I wouldn't worry about it,
Its not about being mean. If there was 100 girls at the same appointment... for some reason they picked one...theres probably good reason for so...and if I was that one who got singled out. I wouldn't complain..I'd laugh a little for waist of a test. Let them go about it. Who cares. Singled out or not. Unless you have anything that needs hide you really could careless what they use the pee for what test they use...its like being upset you have to do HIV testing... test is a test..only those who worry they will not pass get upset.
I would seriously be worried what kind of doctor I was going to if they didn't at minimum get a urine sample every appt . I can't believe I read that in above comments that some people don't even have to leave urine at all . And I Def get being a little upset if you were singled out but if you have nothing to worry about then I wouldn't care one bit . That is their job to make sure they care for ur unborn child 100 percent . They don't know who you are except when they see you once a month . So they need to find out before you deliver ur baby if they need to prepare for something .
It seems like alot of you are not reading this right! She's saying it'sthe way they had her do it like she was hiding something. All our hormones are everywhere! Don't giv anyone an excuse to be a rude biotch! !
I guess California doesn't have that law I know more life mother's who do illegal drugs there entire pregnancy and walk out with the new borns after birth
I had my regular check up today & was sent to get thyroid levels checked & a drug screen as well. I'm 33+2 & I'm fine with it test me all day any day. It's the first one they've done & she said it's mandatory, for which is great.
Yeah they take a urine sample every appointment for me...
I disagree with your statement that a prenatal appointment is not the time or place to be doing a drug test, a prenatal appointment is the perfect time to do a drug test. I fully expect my doctor to drug screen me, she can do it as many times as she wants, I have nothing to worry about, I've never done drugs, heck I've never even smoked a cigarette in my life, much less done any form of drugs. If you have nothing to worry about, them why get pissed at them for doing it, they are just trying to protect your child, and to me, that's a great thing.
I would be insulted if other pregnant women weren't being asked to do the test, but if it's routine then I'd understand. Like they said, if you have nothing to worry about then it shouldn't be a big deal.
I dont even ever have to give them a urine sample, not since they confirmed I was pregnant. Odd.
I get random drug screens at my appointments. I never know until they get the results. If you're not doing anything I don't see the big deal. I think it's great that they randomly do them.
I 160% agree with mrs spenc.....couldnt have said it better myself
You shouldn't have anything to be concerned about unless you are doing drugs. Your closer to delivery and doctors have every right to test you no matter how far along in pregnancy you may be
Unless you are guilty of doing something wrong I'd say its no big deal. Who carea test my pee away. You wanna play with it go ahead. The rights or invasion of privacy is a load of crap.. only those whom have something to hide say that....now they can bring social services in and I myself think that's amazing. These babies can't fight for themselves.
Most doctor offices test, which they should because some mothers do not report drug use/issues & continue to use while pregnant. How you are describing the scenario makes it seem like they are suspicious of you.
Unless you've been doing drugs I don't see the hurt in letting them do the test
I have a drug test every month at my appts also.
I'm currently 35wks on my last apt thy sent me to get blood wrk for thyroid drug test and all these other exams thy told me it was missing info thy dudnt hv since I started going w them at 30wks
You no longer have to be told your being dug tested. The new law passed November 2012. And in full effect in all 50 states on January 1, 2014 . It's nothing against you. Especially in the beginning with people (not saying you) they are more lenient in drug tests. But towards the end of pregnancy, they do a more thorough drug test screen. If you show positive then at delivery CPS will be notified and show up. They will take baby's blood and if they are positive you can and will lose custody, even jail/prison time. That's why the extreme measures you mentioned happend.
Legally you have to be told if your getting a drug est done.
And as well give a urine sample every visit but thats jus to make sure im clear of infection.
Where are you? I think i would be pretty insulted, if that happened to me. You may find a new dr, you always want one that you can feel comfortable with, ya know. Id wait for your test to come back okay and speak with the office manager about it.
I have to pee in a cup every appt but never like that, always water never rushed to do it. Not to be in your business don't answer if u don't want, but did you do drugs prior to being pregnant?
