Devastated at 35weeks scan

Im totally devastated after my 35weeks scan. Result says my baby has cdh..
cognetive diaphragmatic hernia. It occurs in one out of 2500 births and baby has only 50% chances of survival. I had two scans at 13 and 20weeks but they never found any problem in those scans. Doctor says the diaphragm develops at 8weeks so if there was any hole in diaphragm it should have been visible at 13weeks scan. Now babys intestine has gone in through the hole in diaphragm and as a result it has pushed the lungs. Due to which baby wont be able to breath normally. So after delivery he would in placed in NICU. Once his lungs gains enough strength, surgery would be done to move intestine back to its place. Diaphragms hole would be stitched. But the lungs would still remain small. I read somewhere that even if surgery is done successfully there would be certain long term problems for baby like asthama, gastro reflux, re herniation of diaphragm etc. I will have to live each day in fear that something will happen to my baby. I cant believe this is happening to us. One week ago i was so happy preparing to welcome my baby home shopping for him. And now all of a sudden such a huge disaster...dont know how many months i will have to stay in hoapital. I wont get to hold my baby atleast for a month. Has anyone else faced this situation? Do anyone know about babies with cdh leading a very normal life?need prayers from all please...c section is planned on 38th week. Im so so so scared. I want my baby safe and healthy . This is my first baby. After a looong wait of 5years after marriage. I cant bear to lose him

I was born with the same thing and I'm here happy and healthy expecting :) although it is easier said than done, try not to worry, 50% is still a very good chance and he will be a fighter :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I had a cousin born with a hole in her diaphragm vaginally (which I'm sure made it worse) because they didn't do all those scans and ultrasounds back then. It was a long and stressful time for her parents but my aunt still pumped at home and fed her at the NICU for visits everyday. Even with surgeries they got to touch her and after about 4 weeks could hold her and fully feed and rock her. She is a pretty healthy 23 year old now living a completely normal life.

Healing thoughts and positive love your way!
