The earliest they would do it is 39 for anon medical reason. But I am sure if you were honest and told your doctor the reason he/she would do it at 39 weeks. My cousin is in the military and his wife was able to get induced at 39 weeks so he could be there. If your baby is helathy, looks like it has gained enough weight then they just might do it. It never hurts to ask.

Hi there.  If it is your first baby, it will be tough to get induced unless it really is for a medical reason.  There is a higher incidence of c section with first delivery inductions.  So, doctors tend to avoid it.  I was TEN days over due begging to be induced.  ugh.  But with a second child it is much easier.  The doctor DOES have to give a reason in your chart but they often just put size of baby.  I think my doctor did me a solid by putting that as the reason for my second child delivered at 39 weeks. I appreciated it.  :>)  good luck to you.  And all doctors are different so yours may go for it.  never hurts to try.  good luck

I had to get a letter from my high risk ob so my regular ob can induce me next week. As far as i know you have to wait till 40 weeks if everything is good. Im getting induced at 37 weeks due to complications as well

Most doctors will wait until your at least 40 weeks and some don't even like to induce unless they have to. I know if your in a lot of pain they will induce early. I'm being induced at 39 weeks for health reasons.
