Effacement

So I went for my 38 week doctors appointment yesterday and found out I was 50% effaced without being dilated yet. I missed my 37 week appointment because I locked my keys in the car -_- and at my 36th week appointment I was not effaced/dilated at all. I wish I knew if it took a week, or two to come this far! I want my baby boy here already! Im wondering how long it took for effacement to be at 100% or how long you've been stationed at the same percent for you ladies? And for already mommies how long once you started effacing did it take for your babies to finally come? :)

I was goin to ask my dr if im fully effaced can they induce me or what

@turtleslj72 once you were effaced did dilating come hand in hand or did it take a while? I know you started at 2 I wonder if that makes a difference?

Im wondering that too! @unique2015 & @shaymich2015 I'm assuming thats when dilating will start and steadily but I really have no clue!

With my son I never effaced until I was in labor. I went in to the hospital with two min apart contracts. 38 weeks an 5 days. They told me nornally they would send me home but they were gonna watch me cause I was 2cm dialated and 90% effaced. Had my son 4 hours later. Dialated 2 cm every 30mins to an hour. Guess who got told if I decide to have a second baby to get to the hospital if I even THINK I am going into labor lol an well....I am 35 weeks and 4 days with my second. Pretty sure she is gonna come early like her big bro did too!

I am wondering that same thing. I'm only 30 % away from being 100% and still closed as tight as possible haha

I'm 38 weeks I'm 75% effaced but only dialated to a 1 it only took a week to efface from 0-75 but been dialated at a 1 for two weeks

I'm a ftm and was diagnosed with a short cervix. I'm only 25 weeks :/ I'm sure if I was dilated at all my baby boy would already be here!

I hear ftm's efface before they dilate :) how far along are you?

I'm 61% effaced. I went from 50% to 61% about 5 days. I am not dilated at all though
