Energy Drinks?

Is it bad to drink a monster energy drink? I'm 15 weeks pregnant and crave it so badly. It only says it's 180 mg of caffeine and is allowed to drink 200 mg?

Didn't drink the whole can, just a sip so the craving would go away (:

Also, my friend drank pretty much nothing but monster java throughout pregnancy, and found out later on that it can make you pop positive for meth when the hospital did their routine tests. They can tell the difference in a blood test, but still, if it can make you pop positive, what kind of crap is it putting in your body? Lol. Even coffee would be a better alternative for your caffeine needs.

Don't do it! Please! You may find caffeine in some of your daily food and drinks as well, so you're risking going over your daily limit with a Monster! Drinks like NOS even state directly on them 'do not consume if pregnant or breastfeeding'. Maybe have one cup (the actual measurement of one cup), and call it a day, but definitely not a whole can.

They are bad when you're not pregnant, so I definitely wouldn't drink them pregnant

Energy drinks should be avoided not just because of the high sugar content but the caffeine. 200mg is the absolute maximum you're allowed throughout the day, 180mg in one go is not going to be good for you or baby. This is one craving you should avoid.

Before getting pregnant I had 1-2 monsters a day. After I found out baby was in the way I stopped drinking them. But one day I couldn't get the craving to go away...so I bought one. Sipped on it off and on over a few hrs, just for the taste.  I also did this with my first pregnancy. Just don't drink it fast and you should be fine. Especially if your body is used to drinking them.

How many servings in a can? Are you sure you would only be drinking a single serving? Caffeine withdraws can cause uncomfortable symptoms like headaches. If you were to get yourself a plastic soda bottle with screw top, could you possibly drink only 1/2 serving of Monster and save the rest for next day to ween off the stuff? If not, you may have to drink 1/2 serving for a few days, throwing the other 1/2 down the drain so your CRAVING does not cause you to drink whole serving. At any rate, I would ween off it. 3/4 serving for 3 days, 1/2 serving for 3 days,1/4 serving 3-7 days then cold turkey....I am not a medical provider but I know a little about caffeine addiction. Check advice on internet on caffeine addiction withdrawls.
