External Cephalic Version Procedure

So I'm 35+ weeks and baby is still breech...at 34 weeks, utrasound said he was already 7lbs and I feel like he's been trying to turn but can only manage to get his head in a transverse position then stops and goes back breech (this has not been confirmed by midwife and could all be in my head)...has anyone been through a ECV procedure, what was your experience like, and was it success or not?
P.S This is my 2nd, I don't believe he's engaged yet, I have an anterior plecenta, and at 34 weeks ultrasound said fluid level around baby was still high enough for him to flip.

Update: I ended up getting the ECV done at 37 weeks and it worked...I was convinced he was going to flip back to breech but 5 day later he is still perfectly head down...ultrasound today did clock him in a 9lbs (I'm 37+4 weeks) but I'm convinced I can birth a toddler naturally at 40 weeks :)

I highly recommend trying the ECV  for a breech baby if you're doctor suggested it...it wasn't painful and it looks like it is going to keep me from having to get a c-section!

My daughter decided to flip from head down to sideways during labour and I had to have one when fully dilated (yay for epidural!). They had one person turning on the inside and one turning her on the outside of my belly. Different scenario than for you but it did work. Just added a few hours to my labour because they had to push her back up the birth canal to get her repositioned. Sometimes babies just flip late. Check out the spinning babies website for some tips on how to get baby to flip on their own. :)
