Gastroschisis
Had a 16 week scan yesterday, they think it is a girl. But they found that my baby has gastroschisis, the intestines are out of the belly. I was devasted, I know they can fix it with surgery but babies tend to be premature and can have difficulties with feeding, not nice knowing we will be in hospital for potentially weeks. Very sad, Im 22 FTM and not smoked or drank alcohol and too multivitamins.
Its just hard knowing I cant go home like everyone else. Never thought it would happen to me, but my girl is special but also no different to any other baby :)
My niece was born with it six weeks early and spent 4-5 weeks in the nicu. They basically put her intestines in a bag and let gravity bring them slowly down into her belly. She is now a healthy six year old.
Sadly its something that just happens. Im sure its very stressful to think about the extra time in the hospital and the surgery, but just keep in mind that it's something that can be fixed. It will be tough in the beginning but then your baby will go on to live a perfectly normal life.
