You can have fresh fruit. Just avoid the tropical ones. You'll have to check your blood sugar 4 times a day. Once on the morning before eating or drinking, and an hour after each meal every doctor is different as to how many carbs per meal and snacks. Since I have GD and it's diet controlled I have to go once a week for a non stress test. They put a monitor on my belly and check to see if baby is moving and the heart rate is good. Healthy fats help block sugar absorption also.
All the veggies you want. Protein heavy - I've been eating lots of celery with peanut butter, cottage cheese with berries, salads with chicken... You'll have a limit on how many carbs per meal and per snack but you don't have to cut them out entirely (so I can still make fajitas because the tortillas are fairly low in carbs, and I can still have rice with my stir fry as long as I pay attention to amounts). Fruit will still be fine for snacks and in meals as long as the sugars are accounted for intervene your daily diet log. If you didn't pass the 3-hour you'll meet with a dietician who can help you plan a diet that will work for you.
I haven't heard a word about needing a non stress test - I was diagnosed almost four weeks ago so maybe they just haven't gotten around to it yet - but my midwives are big on avoiding monitoring, medication, or interventions in general that aren't strictly necessary. My kick counts are great so we aren't concerned.
With my first I had it and at thirty weeks I had biophysical profiles and non stress test everyweek other than that the other two post covered it.
Thank you for the other food ideas. I was diagnosed at 30 weeks or so. I am high risk anyways because our last child passed away from a birth defect. I was 31+5 when I hemorrhaged so they have been extra cautious with this pregnancy. Thankfully I have been able to avoid most interventions aside from the external monitor once a week.
Thank you so much. It's my first child so I'm freaking out. I want to make sure the baby is okay. So mangos are a no? I love mangos so that really *****.
U will have to watch wht u eat n I also have go in twice a week to take the non stress test so they can motion my baby movent n heart rate I have take gylburide twice a day n check my sugar 4 a day iam 36weeks n 7 day n I have to do this up still I have my baby.
Nothing will really change besi
Besides your diet. They will keep an eye on how far your measuring and sign of measuring ahead they will send you for an ultrasound and guesstimate how much baby weighs. They will also keep an eye on your blood pressure too.
Only thing is if you cannot manage it with diet and exercise, your docttor will likely prescribe insulin injections.
