Getting close!

For those of you who have experienced labor.. What were your signs leading up to it? Did you know it was labor? Did you get signs days in advance? What was your experience?

I'm getting so anxious! I want to meet my son :)

I've had 3 normal births and one emergency c section I nearly die having my section my placenta previa popped which ment I was bleeding out for outs before they took me to the or. I lost 6 pints of blood on the table so I'm scared to death of having another one. So I'm trying for a normal one this time. I've told them in my birth plan if anything goes wrong then to put me sleep and c section as I was asleep last time. But it up to you if you pick a vbac or planned section. I have 4 kids at home already so hopefully my vbac works.
But after my last section I had 5 4 and just turn 1 year old and manage to look after them then with a 32 weeker still in neo.
All you have to remember with a normal birth is I can do this this pain is worth it for this little baby keep calm and try not to panic women all over the world do this every day. When I had my 1st I was 16 it all happened so fast from waters breaking then she was in distress and pooed in me but I managed to push her out before the c section Dr got to me.

That makes me less nervous, kklove! I had an emergency csection with my first. I never experienced one contraction or anything with labor. I know what to expect with a csection. Doctors are giving me the option to either try a vbac or schedule another csection. I'm still debating. I'm just terribly nervous either way. I panic when I watched YouTube videos of natural labor lol

I totally forgot about the ring of fire (I've never heard it called that but I'm from UK) but like I send that when you know it's all over. Hopefully I get my successful vbac the ring of fire is nothing compared to the after pain of a c section

As far as your "ring of fire", you'll feel that with or without drugs. Sorry. Lol

I never noticed my mucous plug. My maternal nurse told me I probably wouldn't so I wasn't surprised when I went in from one week to the next and my midwife told me it was gone and I had no clue. I never dialated. At all. Which was incredibly frustrating and I thought she'd never come out. I went to my last check up on my due date and was still not dialated at all. We scheduled an induction for the 13th of August (my due date was the 1st btw), and I went home feeling annoyed and depressed and just plain over it. Went to work on the 4th and 5th. Got up on the 6th at about 10am, fed my cats, and got my laundry in the car and headed to my mom's. Ate some breakfast and got on the computer waiting for my laundry. Around noon I started feeling incredibly uncomfortable. Like when you really need to poo and can't sit right. That went on the rest of the day and never let up. I ordered a cheese extra cheese pizza for dinner around 10 pm, and decided there was no way in hell I was getting any sleep, so sat on the couch watching Netflix. Started feeling faint contractions around 11:30 (I call them contractions because I know now that's what they were, but had no idea at the time.) I had back labor. Which was intense and scary and incredibly painful, but absolutely nothing like I was told it would be. They tell you your lower back starts to hurt and then the pain wraps around to your front. Nope. I had the most intense sharp yet dull pain in my lower back constantly from the very beginning. Never felt anything in front. At this point the pain would shoot up my spine and into my sides for about 30 seconds, then go back to the same. My contractions were never regular. I was doing a puzzle book all night, and when I realized they were happening, I started writing down the time in between on the top of the page I was on at the time. This went on, slowly getting progressively more painful, never regular (I'm taking jumps from 10 to 15 to 5 back to 10 minutes in between), until about 1:30am when I just couldn't take it anymore and didn't know what to do and was terrified something was wrong with me because of the irregularity. So I called my mom and went to her house, where she found the number for hospital dispatch and put me on with an incredibly nice lady who asked me how far apart they were, what they felt like, etc., and told me to head there. I got there at about 3am, 3/4 cm dialated. I'll spare you the gory details in between. My daughter was born at 6:30pm on the 7th of August. She'll be 2 in a week. :)

1st, I was bouncing on a yoga ball playing video games, I had no signs of labor whatsoever. I had work that day (it was a Sunday). Monday morning I woke up with the need to pee, went to the bathroom, by the time I got back in bed I started feeling like I had a tummy ache. I thought it was something I ate the night before so went to drink some water and nothing. Tried to eat something thinking it was hunger pain and couldn't even swallow. So being a first time it hit me like 30 minutes later that I could be having contractions. Started bouncing on the ball and walking around, timing them. When they got 5 minutes apart I called the doctor, went in to get checked and sure enough I was in labor. With my 2nd, I had a similar experience, with the difference that I did lose the mucus plug in a period of 3 days. I also got up to pee, went back to lay down and the contractions kicked in, timed them and then call the doctor, who told me to go to l&d. Went and they checked me and had me walk around for almost 2 hours, thinking I could be having false labor, but needless to say I didn't leave the hospital until 2 days later with my son in my arms. (: Now expecting my third 37+5, last night I was feeling funny and I thought I would wake up with contractions but nothing. I'm being induce on the 9th so only 8 more days to go. I'm hoping he comes on his own since the idea of being induce makes me really nervous. But we will see! Either way I'm meeting my son in a few days! Good luck and God bless!

Thanks ladies! Sounds like losing the mucus plug is most common first sign. I'm excited, yet extremely nervous! How many weeks did you all make it until?

First baby I lost my mucus plug a couple of days before and had mild contractions for a couple of days. I went in for a regular visit and Dr said I was almost there and to go home and walk. Went into labor that night. Second baby I had no signs but I somehow just knew he was going to come that night. I woke up in the night with some blood and strong contractions.

1st baby no signs at all. My water just broke at 6:30 am it was just a tiny drop that hit the floor the contractions started straight away every 3 to 5 mins my mum said get back in bed it will be ages yet. But I was like no we have to go now I was 6 cm by the time I got hospital and had my daughter at 9.35 am 3.1)2 hours not bad for a 1st baby at 16 years old lol.
Wish my other's was that fast but I've had 3 very different normal births and one emergency c section.

No idea what to expect with baby number 5

I was induced with my first so no signs. With my second I went to the restroom and when I wiped there was a bit of blood in my discharger. Two days later I had a blood again. The next morning I woke up with contractions and lost my mucus plug

I lost my plug a couple days before. Then I couldn't lay down flat without it hurting so I sat up in a chair at 3 am and around 5am my contractions started I timed them for 2 hours. Trying to go about my day I went to try to lay back down and the minute I layer down my water broke. Off to the hospital we went 7 pm there came my son

First birth I lost my mucus plug 3 days before and had bad diarrhoea for a week. 2nd birth, only sign was slight diarrhoea for a couple of days. Then for both I just began with very light contractions 10 to 15 minutes apart for 1 to 2 hours (after 2 or 3 contractions I was pretty sure it was labour as they felt different to a Braxton hicks - more defined structure, slow beginning, tight pressure build up in the middle, then a relieving taper off at the end), then they became closer and more regular after that.
