Health Insurance

Alright, so I'm on my dad's health insurance through his work. It's upmc. Well, my boyfriend & I are getting our own place & my dad told me I can't change my address & stay on his health insurance. How true is this? Because I just looked it up & it said that a child under 26 can remain on a parents plan even if they don't live with them. I just want to know for sure because I can't afford it on my own. Especially not with the baby coming.

I'm on my parents insurance and it covers everything except the babies delivery I live an hour away from my parents so I believe your dads should cover you still. I would sign up for medical that way if something isn't covered it can be billed to medical. That's what I did because my insurance didn't cover certain tests for my pregnancy

He is a very good man! & I don't know what I'd do without him. But yeah, that's what I figured. I can stay on it until I'm 26.

I live in a different state and I am on my dads insurance. He probably just doesn't know how it works. I'm also 25 I can be on it until I'm 26.

I think you're right. Probably so I'd still have to go there to get my mail but its not like I'm moving far anyways. 3 blocks away at the most! But thanks ladies, im glad I can still stay on it & change my address!

I'm on my mother's because my workplace doesn't provide it and I have my own house and have never had an issue. You don't have to be at the same address at all, maybe he's low-key upset about you moving out and trying to find excuses to get you to stay?

Alright, my dad's actually does cover my pregnancy & all that also. But thank you! I cannot wait to tell him he's wrong. Hahaha just because of the way he told me.

I am married and live 2 hours away from my parents. I am only 24 about to be 25 and am having my second child. I am still on my father's insurance. But my father's insurance did not cover my pregnancies only covers my mom or if I need medical emergency. So I also have state insurance since my husband owns his own small business and insurance is very expensive for him.
