Should I get induced?!

So my due date is the week of cmas and my o.b suggested since the pregnancy is going well I could get induced a week early. I want to but everyone I talk to is telling me not to. I've only heard of people getting c-sections being induced and I'm not expecting to have one. What do you all think?

Thanks for everyone's advice. My husband doesn't want me to be induced either so I'm going to ask about and read on getting my membranes swept. Thanks again ladies!!!

Hi everyone. I think they want to induce because my due date is the week of cmas. They said she is growing well and just gave me the option to be induced. This is my 2nd and I didn't have a csection with the first and hopefully wont have to have one

I was induced a week eairly with my son because they didnt think he was getting enough nutrition and my blood pressure was high. Everything was fine and I had him without a c section.

Im pregnant with #4.. my first 3 were induced.. my 1st because of high bloop pressure and next 2 each were 10+ pounds but ultrasound showed them bigger. I heard smooth labors no complications an no c sections. Id still like to go into labor naturally..

It does increase risk of needing a csection and honestly sounds selfish on the part of the doctor. I am due Christmas day and doc hasnt said a single thing about inducing which I would deny anyear. Baby will come when she is ready and even though modern medicine has made it possible to induce due to baby size, complications, safety, etc, it isnt something I would do for convenience.

I'm due Christmas eve and my dr was very honest and told me she is not one of the Dr's on call for the 24th -26th and if I want into labor one of those days baby  would be delivered another dr in the office.  She then offered to induce me a day early if I wasn't comfortable with a different dr doing the delivery.   If your dr doesn't practice with others an induction may be his way of trying not to get called to the hospital on Christmas.  It's not the best reason to be induced but a week early usually isn't a big deal.  That being said I was induced on my due date  (because of gestational diabetes) with #2 and she spent 2 days in the nicu on oxygen because her lungs where not quite ready.  Weight you options carefully and do what feels right for you.

Inducing is only needed if baby is really late (past 42 weeks) or there's complications. If everything is going smoothly I don't see any reason to induce labor early. Baby will come when baby is ready.

I'm pregnant with my 3rd and due on Dec 20th..I was induced at 39 weeks with my first 2 and I had normal labor times and did not get c sections.. I plan on doing the same with this baby..its your choice and don't let anyone make you feel bad if u do decide to get induced

If your pregnancy is going well thn there is probably no reason to induce you. It can put you at a higher risk for a csection. Honestly, it sounds like your doctor is trying to get you to be induced early so she doesn't end up working on Christmas.

I was induced with two of my kids at 38weeks and I had fast, smooth, natural Labor's, no c-sections at all! I am having another baby also due the week of Christmas and my doctor recommend I do castor oil and is sweeping my membranes Tuesday to start up a natural birthing process instead of inducement.

What's the reason for being induced? If the pregnancy is going well why would they want to intervene? Is this your first? Sorry I think I'm asking more questions than actually being a help to you but I just don't get why they would induce you if all is well and you're not over due
