Home remedy for an ear ache?

Being pregnant, I do not like to take medications unless absolutely necessary. Do any of you know of some home remedies to cure an ear ache? I have tried apple cider vinegar, a warm salt compress, low blow dryer heat, and coconut oil. The swelling and pain have gone down some but I have had the ear ache now for about 3-4 days.

Cut half an onion warm it up in the microwave no more than a minute, put it in a sock and put it on your ear. I always do this for my girls and they say it works, or warm up some olive oil put a couple of drops in your ear put a cotton ball in chew some gum, and lay on the ear that hurts my girls say that also works. If it doesn't get better then maybe you should go see your doctor. I really hope you feel better soon.
