Can someone please tell me kinda specifically how contractions feel? I'm 36w 3days & I think I'm having contractions ever 12-15 minutes but I'm not sure!

They are not always crazily painful, and you may not always know! Mine started off quite easy, very similar to a Braxton hicks contraction, where the whole uterus felt hard, but there was also some cervix pressure and it actually felt the slightest bit like pins and needles too (as in when your leg goes to sleep, but it was my uterus). The other difference was that a BH feels tight for the whole time and doesn't really change, but a real contraction for me had a light start, got intense towards the middle then tapered off again at the end, plus they are consistent in coming. The real contractions actually felt kind of nice to me for the first 6 hours (out of an 18 hr labour), just a tingling, hard pressure that came and went every 6 or 7 mins (the first few were 10 to 15 mins apart for first hour or 2). The next 8 hours didn't feel bad, but didn't feel nice either anymore, just a pressure that came and went, and the last 4 hours were intense and got quite sharp. Not the worst pain in the world for me though as I got breaks from the contractions in between, I've experienced worse on-going pain with no relief from stomach issues.

So while most people find them so intense that they know straightaway, I really only knew because of the consistent timing and later noticed some subtle differences. I was pretty sure I was in labour as I was overdue, but if it had happened at 36 weeks I really don't think I'd have known. Definitely a possibility for yourself, so get checked if it continues!

They might be braxton hicks... You should go to the doctor just to be sure you're not dialated yet... I got contractions like this and read that they were probably just BH... Well I sucked it up and ignored them sure enough my water broke a little later... It's not always necessarily a horrible pain... Or some women can just take the pain idk everyone's diff.

Anyways go get checked girl .... :)

You are experiencing Braxton hicks those are small practice Contractions. Real labor contractions are much much stronger and frequent. When you go into real labor you certainly will know.

Like hell. Lol but no like everyone said, you'll know. Your stomach is going to be tight and obviously it's going to hurt. Then the muscles will relax and tighten up again and continue until you give birth, but getting more intense towards the time to push. Idk how else to describe.
