How do you cope?

I recently had to put my cat Baby down, about 2 days ago by now, and I'm having a hard time dealing with it. Has anyone on here had to put down a pet or had a pet pass away?? And how did you deal with it?? Whenever I think about it I cant help but cry :,( also I'm about 22 weeks pregnant... I just miss her so much
Please if anyone has had to deal with this, how did you cope with it?? I have 4 cats in the house as well along with 4 kittens that cant leave the mom yet, and nothing seems to be helping. nothing I seem to do helps
and please NO BASHING! I know I have a lot of cats, and they're all rescues from off the street, I CAN'T toss them back out! and I refuse to give them away or put them in a shelter!

Pandamomnium, thank you, and I'm so sorry that you had to give you dachshund away, and about your other dog :( and it is hard, I keep remembering how limp she was and I can't stop the image or the feel of her... it's gonna be hard, and I'm trying not to cry but sometimes just can't help it...
Mysteriousbundleofjoy, I'm sorry to hear about your dog being stolen, I know how hard that can be, my cat sassy when she was still little got out, we did find her but for those few days I was so worried and missed her so much

Just try and think of it as. . If your pet was in pain theyre no longer in pain. . We had to put my childhood dog down not long ago and I was heartbroken. . . .and I also had to give away my dachshund pup a few months ago. . . Its hard. . .and I still cry. . .and I still have pics of them both. . . But it gets easier each day. :)

Thank you ladies for the support and ideas, and Hannah_sweg I plan on keeping the cats away from the baby and out of his room when I'm not in there, I'm a light sleeper and wake up easily to small noises and the likes,  And all of my cats are rescues from of the street, but I've had them all since they were kirrens, the kittens we have now are the babies from a cat we rescued, we didn't know she was pregnant till about 3 weeks later lol

My dog of 14 years passed away after a week long battle with pneumonia when I was about 3 months pregnant. I was devastated. He was like my child, my best friend, really my world. To be honest I just cried off and on for like a month. Nothing realy made me feel better. I think you hope to "cope", but you also should accept that being sad is normal. I guess all I can say is you have your good days and your bad days, and eventually you start having less and less bad days. I've tried really hard to focus on other things, work, school, hobbies...etc; just keep yourself from dwelling. Sorry for your loss :(

Maybe try focusing on one cat and pampering him/her.
Give it all the love you'd give your passed away cat. If you choose one of the kittens then that could also be beneficial because you could mold it to be a sweet cuddly cat when it grows up and that wpuld be good for the family.
But let me remind you not to change the litter boxes, you can and most likely will get a bacteria from it that can cause you to miscarry your little one. And cats are called "breath stealers" meaning they often accidentally kill babies by lying on their warm little bodies and causing them to suffocate.
I know ypu said all the cats are family but im sure your little baby is way more important and suffering a loss of a child is far worse than losing a cat.
The more cats you have, the harder it is to control them around your baby.
I freaking loveeeeeee catssssss. Ive had a siamese and a few tabbies and an all white one and two black ones I rescued. But I gave them all away for my baby. Except for my one kitty. He's a rescue and he has one blind eye but he's the best and im okay not having the other cats. Cuz I'll have a baby bot soon and he's most important

I have had a dog die and it was horrible, but I was lucky not to be pregnant, cause now I get sad over burnt toast. The best thing to do is think about your baby, your a mom, you have something to be positive about, even though the loss of your cat is hard, your soon going to have a beautiful baby! Just try shifting your focus a little
