Some moms on here are kinda high strung and are showing us that they have to much time on their hands. I have never seen a mom bash a bunch of other moms so much. Obviously the mom that posted this knows 90% of the people reading this would be like "lice at 8 days old? And your asking us? Call the dr!" But obviously it hit home for future_mommy69 (or what ever her name is). Maybe pregnancy is making her extra passionate or something.

When my son had it I shaved him, but I seen a live one in my hair and freaked out I bought coconut conditioner and left it in my hair and combed it was happy after it was gone! I hope it never comes back!

Even if you shave the baby's head that won't get rid of head lice. I would call the Dr or look online for some home remedies that doesn't have crazy stuff in it. If there is any such remedies

First of all I would like to say lice do not just stay in clean hair.. it can also be just that the hair is also dry.. I have a bunch of caucasian friends an the majority of them don't grease their scalp they just wash an us moisturizers or even leave in conditioners.. so idk what your talking about some of them don't was their kids hair everyday either.. lice hangs or like dry hair aka nongreasey hair which is why if and when you treating your hair for the lice it contains a greasy substance.. but ok.. anyway cps shouldnt even been brought up on this matter..

COCONUT OIL! Its safe and kills it instantly. You'll have to get a comb and remove the lice and eggs. Coconut oil will also prevent them as well. Seriously its even better than buying the treatment. Just apply to everyone's head (make sure the scalp and hair is completely coated with oil) in the house and leave in for about an hr before you comb the head to remove lice. After you can wash your hair and re-apply the oil and leave in. It might look bad but they won't come back. They can't live in coconut oil. Also every morning throw all the bedding in the dry, car seats, pillows, jackets, shirts everything! At least 30 min. At a time. :) hope all works out!

I wasn't trying to attack or scare anyone just said what happened to me. Everyone acts like cps workers are so evil, they are not. In fact many are very helpful, as in my case as previously stated she was able to offer insight to not only get rid of but keep away as well. As long as parents we are meeting the needs of our child/children. There is no need to fear cps. They are aware people make false claims against others for many different reasons. Most cps workers (yes there are some bad, like all professions) want to help and have resources to help. To the momma who asked this question: you are seeking guidance and assistance, that alone shows you are doing what's best for your child. As mothers we all need that. I wish u and ur baby the best.

But I do think you should take baby to Dr. If CPS is called then I wouldn't worry too much if you're confident in your caring for your baby because they won't do anything if you're doing what you should.

I think that the women who have stated that CPS could get involved are not trying to scare you, I think they just want you to know that they might get involved. It has nothing to do with you being a good or bad mother, and if you're a good mom then CPS might investigate but they won't actually do anything so you shouldn't worry.

Don't be so quick to bash the women saying CPS might get involved, they are just letting you know. They never said you neglected your child, they never said you are a bad mother. Reports can be filed on completely innocent mother's. It doesn't mean anything will happen, they are just trying to help.
I think everyone on this app needs to be more open minded as far as how to take what is posted.
We are all here to help. Let's enjoy being pregnant together and help when we can. Nothing harsh was meant!

Ive never ever had lice and at school when it was rife I was actually the one getting teased if anyone cus I must have dirty hair... its a fact they lay in clean hair... although mine was fine just to be clear. I feel extremely sorry for this lady having to deal with this on a tiny baby whilst also dealing witb the crazy emotions of having just had a baby. Its a shame she now has to deal with all these judgemenral comments. None of us know the situation.

Lice will not go to live in someones hair tht isnt clean most ppl know tht already. I just got out of high school and like 2 yrs ago we had an epidemic at our grade school of head lice like 10 kids a day wer getting sent home for having lice. Just goes to show u how easy it is for ANYONE to get. EVEN BABIES!! as long as you get it taken care of nothing like dcfs or anything should happen. Living conditions dont matter when it comes to lice as long as they have clean hair to live in it doesnt matter. I would just use olive oil or cooking oil to smother the lice and just comb it out.

Rotflmfaooo.. @ future_mommy you so mean.. Not!!! But yes that's crazy.. if child was malnourished, dirty etc then maybe cos will be alerted but not for something that's so common for some kids especially young school kids an if you don't oil your scalp this can happen.. other than that yes it's a lil odd a 8 day old got it but it's not something for her to be scared or tortured about.. At all it can be handled..

Oh....and I'd leave this out of the baby book, haha. My sisters and I still shudder when we think of lice. I didn't eat mayo for years because having it on your head for a long period of time is awful!

Oh man, you poor thing! I have 3 sisters, and we went through lice 3 times growing up...it was a nightmare for my mom! Anything that can't be washed in hot water goes in a sealed trash bag for 2 weeks, everything else gets washed in one day, while the treatment is done on anyone affected. EVERYTHING. you might want to do it on a weekend when you have a full day to get through the mountains of laundry plus the vacuuming, and the wiping of every surface. Every hairbrush, comb and hair accessory needs to be put into boiling water. We set up a 'clean' zone, and a 'lice' zone to keep it separate while we did the decontamination.

For the baby, I'd use mayonnaise for and hour or so on baby's entire head, while everyone else get the chemical treatment.
Good luck!!my head is itching now just thinking about it, I feel bad for you!!

I would be conserned as a dr that a 8 day old got lice! That could mean that the living conditions were bad and therefor someone could be a *** n call cps and i was just warning cause it really is terible that a child so young is infested with lice! Yea shes trying to take care of it and thats good i was just telling here that this could happen if she didnt!

You actually can be reported to CPS over head luce. I've seen it happen many times. It is very off for an 8 day old to have lice and would be concerning for any health care professional. The fact that she's trying to get rid of it is great and a plus for her.  However, there would likely have to be a major infestation in the home for it to effect an 8 day old baby considering that lice eggs take 7 days to hatch. If it were only one or two on the baby, you'd just pick them off.

Lol it is NOT a red flag. Give me a break. Hubby please don't listen to these people. I work in healthcare and can flat out tell you lice is a problem and You are attempting to take care of it which can take time and CPS will not get involved. I have no idea why these women are saying this. That's like saying every child that has ever contracted lice (and we all know that at some point or another most children do contract lice) should have CPS called. This is honestly just ridiculous people are saying this. Do you have a toddler? Has family been around the baby? It's easy to contract lice no matter the age. I mean come on people. Why are you even saying these things? You are making this girl worried to call her doctor because she'll think She is going to get CPS called when she's trying to handle the problem. I mean are you serious?? Why are you making up lies and assumptions to scare her? I honestly do not understand the mentality here. This is just asinine. Sweety....PLEASE...just call the pediatrician and find out what the best solution is and ignore these ignorant comments. They in no way have ANY merit and these women are honestly making this up for reasons I have no idea why. It's honestly shameful and these people really should be ashamed of themselves to scare a new mom into calling her doctor for fear CPS is going to get called for an issue that they do not even get involved in because almost ALL children contract lice. You all really should be ashamed.
