I'm mixed emotions excited. Getting induced at my 41 week mark and I'm trying to block out everyone bringing up stillbirth when it comes to being induced. Any advice anyone? Good activity and 130 heart rate.

That's fantastic! They will break your water and if you don't start contracting regularly, they'll start oxytocin.  Best of luck - I hope it's quick for you!

I'm an L&D nurse and we induce SO many patients, the majority of which do perfectly well!

Know that in the induction process, they will intermittently monitor your baby initially, then when they start oxytocin, they will continuously monitor your baby to make sure it's coping well with labour.

The induction process can take up to 3 days, so bring a book/ipad/games. If your cervix is long and closed, they will likely start with a vaginal prostaglandin that can remain up to 24 hours behind the cervix.  Unless you are contracting non stop, they will have a quick listen to your baby every hour, except overnight when you should try to get some sleep.  After the prostaglandin, they may try a Foley catheter (a balloon they inflate in the cervix to mechanically dilate it).  Again, they will listen every hour.

I hope this puts you at ease!  If you have any questions, let me know!

I'm 3cm dilated already and 80% effaced does that have any say on how my labor might go?
Also my midwife said I ripened really nicely for being a 1st time....I'm just really nervous. Going in tomorrow. 7/8

I was induced at 41 weeks and it went beautifully. I couldn't have asked for a better delivery and labor. I was so stressed and freaking out when I went in, but it went great. Don't worry to much it'll be ok. My daughter did have a bm before I gave birth and the nicu had to be there for her to check her lungs but she was ok.
