Labour Story!

My sweet angel arrived on her due date July 9th at 2.50am! As if that wasn't rare enough, her whole birth story is pretty rare for my family.

I started having constant contractions at around 10 pm on July 7th. We went in to the hospital at 9am on the 8th to be sent home because I was only a cm dialated. This is after 11 hours of constant contractions 2-4 minutes apart and lasting a minute in length.

By 8pm I started throwing up and thought I was actually having another bad gallbladder attack like 10 weeks prior. To make sure I didn't get dehydrated we went back in. They monitored me for an hour and gave me a shot of morphine and gravol because they also thought it was from my gallbladder. The NST had issues picking up my contractions. So at 10pm they were getting ready to discharge me again as I was still 1 cm dialated...

Then my water broke mid contraction. And it did come out in one big gush! We all know only 25% people experience water breaking...well, it's even less when baby is face up.

Instantly, I was 3 cm dialated. I was then given the option for a jacuzzi and a popcicle. Which I obviously took. I felt soaked and gross. I got out at 130 and was 7cm dialated. Started pushing at 2 am and the doctor came in at 240.

We met our little angel at 2 50am. She was born all natural with no meds pr interventions. I had a small 1st degree tear that only hurt for 3 days and didn't need tylenol as it was very minimal.

This is rare in my family as everyone from my maternal grandma on has needed c sections as they don't dialate even with the help of meds. Our little girl was also the heaviest weighing 7lbs 1.5 oz. She was able to lift her head that day and always rolled onto her side when we layer her down.

I was so blessed with an easy delivery and nurses who didn't even ask once if I wanted pain meds. I was also able to sleep in between contractions an pushing! :)
