My grandma says its a Mexican belief that the eclipse you have to wear a red ribbon on you or even a red rubber band , they say the eclipse when your pregnant can give your baby cleft lip. (Sounds silly but that's the Mexican belief lol)

I am not allowed to step out of home....and also have been asked not to eat during the time of eclipse and not to use any sharp objects....basically its all why old ppl believe..but I am following it so that if something happens they don't taunt me later

I've heard of this but I don't believe it. It's basically a superstition, an ancient belief dating back as early as the Aztecs! They believed that an eclipse was 'a bite on the face of the moon' so if a mum watched the eclipse the same would happen to her baby - e.g a birth defect such as cleft lip. Apparently, a mother must carry something metallic - a safety pin on underwear is a common precaution. The red thing is also very common, underwear or some sort of red ribbon.... I find superstitions fascinating :)

None. It's an old wives tale and won't effect you at all unless you are about to deliver anyway.
