The IUD itself does not block the sperm. The hormones thicken the cervical mucus, therfore making it harder for the sperm to get to the egg. The IUD us a foreign object in your uterus and that makes it an uninhabitable environment for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterine wall. That doesn't mean it is impossible. And, of course, if an embryo is able to attach attached grow it will push the IUD out. It isn't "clamped" in you, it's placed in the uterus it is not attached to anything. I do know what I'm talking about. I think the terms I use and basic knowledge of it prove more than what you know Ahmad. I did extensive research of this when I started having issues and I know how it works and what issues it can cause.

It does cause ovarian cysts..
Mine came out after 1.5 years just plop..I would rather no BC .or tubes tyed. Because its all a mess. Plus you always see it on TV recalled.
I had a cyst that burst also but it had nothing to do with mirena. Even if you Google it says mirena doesn't cause cyst or nun of these things ppl are saying. Periods may change.
Please name a BC that don't have side affects. Different things for different ppl. Mine was in for 4 years no problems what so ever. It was amazing to me. Soon as we wanted another child we took it out an got pregnant 2 months later. An plus it do block sperm for getting to egg to become pregnant. An if your baby pushed it out that seems to me not properly put in baby should be able to pushed something that's clamped to you smh. Do your research hunnie if you want an IUD weigh your options an do what's best for your body cause ppl have their own opinion.
I've wanted one but then two of my closes family members had very dangerous reactions to them one when went into a girls uterus had to be surgically removed which can cause death or infertility so I opted out anyone know a good birth control that won't cause wont gain or mood swings that's pretty safe
I hadit for 3 years after my 2nd birth, (on my 4th) I bled all the time, almost non stop for months, then I just had a really heavy period every month. It caused repeated ovarian cysts that grew and burst.. my hair fell out and it poked my hubby alot.. after so many ER visits from the cysts.. my doc removed it. I have lots of scar tissue on my ovaries, but I havent had a cyst since I got it removed.
I also had endometriosis and so made my cramps soooooo Much better!! I also got pregnant 3 days after having it removed
I had mirena for a month and half and it was HELL!!!! It released most of it's 5 years worth of hormones, almost instantly and almost killed me. I was also told last December, when I had a miscarriage, that I most likely could not have more kids from it messing up my body so badly, and was devastated!!! Thankfully and miraculously, I'm now almost 21 weeks along!!!!! Search mittens side effects and there are tons of women who cannot tolerate it and some are now infertile from it so I would not risk it!!!!!! That was the scariest thing I have ever been through in my entire life and I'm so thankful I had a positive outcome unlike other women who have used it.
The strings hanging out of the cervix feel like fishing line.
I had mirena for 2 yrs and loved it. Thinking about grtting it again aftet baby #2. I bled once a month a very very light short period didnt even have to wear pads or anything just somr blood when I wiped. I didnt gain any weight with it but it did make it hard to lose my last 10lbs to get to pre pregnancy weight. My partner could feel it sometimes but it wasnt a huge deal. Got it out after 2 yrs and got pregnant our 1st month of trying, waited 2 months for my periods to get regular before we started trying.
Your partner can feel it?? Thats so strange!
I had it for 3 years loved it!! My partner said he could feel it but after awhile he got Use to it. I plan to get it back after this baby
It pokes ur partner also. I know that's not a huge deal but they don't like it.. and it makes you gain a lot of weight n a bunch of not fun side effects.
I had mines for a yr and it got out of place and I had bad pelvic pain I wouldn't get it again
Also, I know most women like it because they don't get their periods often or at all,but I never knew when I was having a period because I never seemed to stop bleeding.
First, it does not work by blocking sperm by getting to the egg. The Mirena has hormones that make your cervix mucus thicker and altering the walls of the uterus. There is always a small chance for pregnancy, even if it is properly inserted.
I had the Mirena for 19 months. At first, it was ok. I cramped and bled everyday and went back to my OB thinking there was an issue. She checked me and it was still where it should be. She told me that since I was breastfeeding my uterus contracts when I nurse and that could cause the cramping and bleeding. So, I gave it 7 months after I weaned my daughter and the cramping got worse. I compare it to labor contractions. And to make it worse, my hair was falling out! It was falling out to the point that the new growth was noticeable. I looked like a ChiaPet. So I finally had it removed and my hair stopped falling out and the cramping stopped. I will never get it again or recommend it. There is a non hormonal IUD called the Paragard. I was curious to trying it after I have this baby, but I am afraid to put something foreign in my body again. I'm worried that I will still have the cramping and bleeding since it is the same thing as the Mirena, just hormone free. But there is still the risk of it perforating your uterus and becoming pregnant. I don't do well on hormones, so it seems like my only options are condoms after this baby :/
It was in the right spot. But then the baby pushed it out.
If you got pregnant on it. Was because it was put in improper. It blocks sperm from getting to the egg. Cause sometimes they put them in wrong.
I had mine for 4 years it was great my cramps got better. An plus I went from 7days to 4 days of bleeding. Never got pregnant with it in. It was the best BC I ever had.
Let me tell you. I got one after my first daughter was born. I still got my periods sometimes even twice a month not very heavy. Then my stomach started to grow to the point of people asking if I was expecting. I finally went to the walk in and was told I was expecting. I had no clue cause I thought I was protected. Guess you can get pregnant on the Miranda. Just be careful. I did have it removed now.

Gave me losts of cramps for a while, also had no period which was awesome. But i bled for months when i had it removed. My sister had a tubal pregnancy with hers and ended up losing her tube due to the mirena.
I had the one that's good for 5yrs...it was amazing, it worked well for me.
