I actually recovered faster with the epidural . I had a head ache and back pain but only for a day or 2. When I went natural I had the WORST back pain for a week! They had to prescribe me medicine for it

I tried my hardest to go natural.  My doctor said if I didn't take something I'd have to have a c section. I had an epidural, my body was fighting my contractions. By the time it came to push, I felt everything, which is what I wanted. Don't feel bad if it doesn't happen the way you want, your baby is more important then your comfort, but remember if your uncomfortable it can cause problems on your baby.

Ive read that the best way to prepare is first and foremost, a healthy diet and exercise. Then youll need support. Your parner, the midwife if you have or get one, and the doctor / place youre going to birth at should all be on board with your decision. Good luck!!! I plan to borth naturally as well :)

Hi, first of all, that's great that you want a med-free birth. My last OB encouraged me to keep in mind why I wanted to give birth naturally, not out of fear, but to do what's best for my baby. That thought helped me immensely during L&D. Also, drafting a birth plan and communicating it with your doctor(s), nurses and labor coach helps ensure everyone will support you and not try to steer you toward medication. Best wishes to you! I'm also 21 weeks along and plan to go natural again.

Contractions are what's hurts...Pushing the baby out doesn't hurt. It just feels hot and tight, and like you have to poop.
I had a natural birth with my first child and I'm planning on doing it again with this one.

Ive had two with epidurals and two without. Even though its painful, I still prefer without.  I recovered mych quicker and was able to stay aware when baby was born.
Get a good coach, your husband is a great choice. Take a few classes to help prepare if you can. Do yoga so you can be used to finding your calm. Relax and take it a step at a time.  Just remember no matter how baby comes, you're a freaking super hero! Also some nurses are really great at helping you find what works. Listen to their suggestions, then make an informed decision.

Oh ny gosh I had a natural birth and it was terrible! The worst part is that I was in labor for 6 hours and only the last hour hurt but I couldn't handle! I cant imagine if I had to push for hours! she literally flew out of me when I opened my legs to lay day down a different way. If I had gotten that epidural it wouldv'e been a hundred times easier!

I'm a big baby when it comes to pain though because when it came down to it I could hold in the moans and screams but it felt better letting em out lol

I had my son 2 weeks ago all natural. I would say stay in good shape and look into hypno-birthing and or meditation. I did a lot of breath-work and visualizations which helped a lot. The more upset I got during labor,  the worse the pain became.
