Also, my lovely boy was 9 lbs 1oz!
I had an all natural home birth with my second son last week on the 19th of March. I used breathing, relaxation and visualization techniques which were quite beneficial to me. I personally do not consider childbirth to be painful, for me surges/contractions were just very uncomfortable and you feel tons of pressure. My total labor was 7hrs start to finish. Water broke at 830am, contractions started and baby was born 325pm. Think positive and try and be as relaxed as you can, you can do it!! Good luck :)
I become a first time mum last Monday. I had one dose of pethidine. I thought of it as the pains isn't ever lasting. .. ur getting a joy for life out of it so is it gonna hurt to suffer a little to get that ever lasting joy. I totally don't regret not having more pain relief. I think the contractions r worse than the labour... I do have quite a good tolerance for pain tho... remember ur not suffering everyday waiting to die in pain... ur suffering to bring a life :)
Personally I think your best off going into labor with an open mind. Try natural and see how you go, however if your in labor for an extremely long time it gets exhausting and an epidural will give you the chance to rest before having to push bub out. I've done 2 natural labors and 1 epidural. Currently expecting baby #4 and I'll go into this labor open minded again. Take it as it comes and don't be disappointed in yourself if you do end up having pain relief.
everyones pain tollerance is different i was induced 2 of 3 the middle i started having contractions on my own. and as i said before all 3 of my kids were born naturally. so really you dont have to get the epidural if you dont want. stay stong.
If you have to get induced i highly recommend that you get the epidural but if you go into labor on your own then i wouldn't get the epidural. I had my baby yesterday but was induced. The first 8 hours i had "natural" contractions and they were tolerable. But after i had to get the pitocin the contractions was so unbearable that i was screaming uncontrollably, crying and passing out from the pain. I could of went natural if i didn't have to be induced.
I Had a natural birth with my first. But completely by accident I was too far gone by the time I reached the hospital. I didn't have gas and air either. But u believe if you go in believing you can do it then you will :). Good luck xx
ive done it 3 times and plan to do it again for this one. i know you can do it. main thing is to breath. i took deep breaths in and out slow to help mine the nurse also has a very soothing voice and she kept reminding me to breath so that helped out tremoundsly. anyone else tried to tell me in my mind i was telling the to shut up lol. holdin your breath will intensify the pain.. and just keep thinking of how you will get to see your baby really soon and hold your baby.
Hi there. Congratulations . It's a great decision your making to try for a natural birth. For my first I had a natural birth, was planning home birth but had to deliver at the hospital due to complications. What helped me deliver naturally was my sheer stubborn disagreeable attitude basically they knew not even to ask me if I wanted drugs because I was devastated to have to be in the hospital in the first place. Lol. My midwife was there and that was a great help. I received acupuncture while.in labor. I spent time in water. And I was extremely motivated because my son was in fetal distress and the OB said if I didn't get him out in 10 mins it would be an emergency C section. So with the help.of what seemed to be the entire maternity ward in my room. I gave birth to my son without any drugs. He had the cord tightly wrapped around his neck, shoulder dystocia, and needed a vacuum to get him out and nurses pushing on his butt because he was seriously stuck. Talk about painful... anyways he w a s also big, 8 ibs 9 oz. Born on his due date. You can do it. Just don't let them bully you, be clear about what you want, and give it all you got. That's the best you can Dom and hey, if you end up needing an intervention such as a c section and it's your only option, it's a good one to have for a healthy baby. That's all anyone wants you to have. :]
You can do it! I had an epidural and plan on having another one because that's the kind of birth I'm happy with. I have friends and family who had natural births and we're very happy with theirs. I believe that everyone should strive for the kind of birth they want because they'll be most comfortable and happy with the birth of their child. :)
Just a heads up, look up the 'transition' part of a natural birth. My cousin told me about it and I've heard about it a lot on here. They say it's the worse point to in labor toward the end and you feel like you can't go anymore and you want to give up- but I hear that's the worse point and after that the pain starts easing away and then you have your baby in your arms. You just have to make it through that point. :)
Thank you ladies! Very much appreciated! My friends thinks I'm nuts but I'm determined. Good luck to each and everyone of you :)
I myself cannot handle pain but I will try to go as much as I can with out an epidural, if I'm able to have vagina birth. but if you set your mind and heart to it I'm sure you can do it!! Us womam are strong but we don't realize how strong we are because we go in to panic, and I belive that may cause it to "hurt" more. But congrats on your decision!
It hurts but its not that bad I think woman should at least try and do it naturally! My best and only advice is to Not Lay Down!! During contratiojs and birth. Ask your midwife about other positions and find one your comfortable with. Even a water birth is great
With my first it went great because it made me push harder to get the baby here because I was having annoying back pain. Also I was able to feel exactly where I needed to focus my strength when pushing. Keep your knees to your chest or as close as you can obviously with your legs wide open so it helps open the area more. 21wks in with baby #2 and definitely going all natural because you bounce back faster.
With my first in 2012 all I had was gas and air. I really didn't want to be drugged up and spaced out when I met my baby for the first time. Was in very slow labor for almost two weeks so kind have got used to the pain. Just found out I am pregnant again and I'm happy to do the same this time. It really depends on you and how you feel at the time.
I'm going natural too. Just keep your head up, keep calm and know that doing a natural birth is beautiful
I didnt have it with my son. I did however have morphine to help with the contractions as he was back to back. See how u feel at the time. No one would make u feel bad if u had an epidural. Some people need it and some dont. I wish id have had one when i had the opportunity. Im also 3t weeks and will be having one this time around
My cousin has gone epidural free for all 3 of her pregnancies. If you have a high pain tolerance and lots of motivation, she says anybody can do it.
Only advice I can give is....get the epidural lol but props to you for wanting to go through it without. I've given birth with and without. Some have higher tolerance for pain..if that's you then cool...me...I don't like pain and I'm a big baby lol good luck :)
